Veteran Dutch international striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, 36, believes he has one more year of professional football left in him.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is currently without a club after being released by Championship side Cardiff City in acrimonious circumstances, but he is training with Norwich City in an attempt to sharpen his match fitness.

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder has made no secret of his desire to sign a striker, although 36-year-old Hasselbaink has said he is just working on his fitness at Carrow Road, not angling for a deal.

The former Leeds United, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Cardiff striker told Sky Sports:

"I'm just training there [at Norwich] at the moment to keep myself fit.

"I would like to play another year, but at the moment I've not had a pre-season and I've missed out on a lot of football so I'm just keeping myself fit."

No doubt he was a great player in his prime.

But hes been past his best for 2/3 years now. I think the best thing would be to retire.
