Dutch club reject United's offer to temporarily house youngsters

Manchester United have been knocked back in their attempts to use Dutch side Heerenveen as a club to temporarily house their South American talents.

In a bid to get around work permit issues the English and European Champions are on the look-out for a club in Western Europe to loan out their South American youngsters to.

Despite the rejection Heerenveen general director Yme Kuiper has refused to rule out a deal in the near future.

The club currently sit sixth in the Dutch top flight and Kuiper went on to explain that before any deal could take place the club needed to address a number of key issues.

"At the moment we are not interested," the general director told Leewarder Courant.

"There are rules in the Netherlands and we are committed to that and provisionally we want to find our own way on the South American market.

"If we come to an agreement with Manchester United to get players on loan, how would that be worked out concretely?

"For example could a player be called back at any moment, and will we get a share of the profit if a player is sold?

"In the close future that could well lead to something. It certainly is an interesting development."

Heerenveen rejecting it is a bit of a surprise imo, but we've got to respect their decision. They will have good reasons for rejecting it, and we shouldn't just expect to get our own way.

But it sounds a good idea to me. They would get to go to a good country, to play at a good level of football.

Dont we already have an agreement with Sporting?

Antwerp is a joke of a level to send players, top Dutch League would be fantastic for their development, great coaching there!

I wonder who we're trying to ship out. Possebon or Fabio, they are our only south american talents. Unless we are planning to bring in 2 or 3 more in jan ?

well, they have a good reason to turn us down. it's not a shocker though as they are in top division not like arntwep. maybe we could pick a team who sit in the mid table and not challenging for euro spot.
