Gabriel Heinze has expressed his delight at lifting the Primera Liga title in his first season with Real Madrid.

The Argentine defender joined Real on a four-year deal last summer from Manchester United for a fee in the region of £7million.

Real claimed the title after a dramatic 2-1 triumph over Osasuna on Sunday evening, and Heinze has beamed at the memorable success.

"I am very happy with the success. For me, this is wonderful," Heinze said. "The triumph is enormous and we have demonstrated that we are deserved champions.

"I am pleased with my decision to leave England last summer for a return to Spain. We must enjoy our success but also concentrate on our final games of the season.

"It is important for us to reward our supporters with a victory against Barcelona on Wednesday.
