United fans asking United fans to stop singing Hillsbrough songs makes ME embarrassed to be a United fan. Get on a train/car/boat/rocket ship and go to Old Trafford. You won't hear a single Hillsbrough song no matter who we're playing. Give it a rest and learn something about the club you 'support', you're giving us a bad name.
It's all this crap thats been reported by the media. MOTD mentioned it a few times, and so did Sky.

It was going on before that. Radio phone ins, Facebook, forums. All calling for us to stop singing it. It's ridiculous, I don't know what they think we sing. Are they just going on hear say?

i'll be at anfield for the game and am at Ot for every game.

in relation to this whole thing it's strange how so many people who don't go, or have never been to OT , or who know little of the clubs history know so much about this matter.

also isnt it ironic in a week that the press have been lambasted for creating wrongful stories and accusations over the hillsborough tradegy that they decide the next day to start a story about united and scouse chants- talk about imflamatory-was there really any need for them to start that in a week that they have been show up for incorrect, ignorant and muck raking stories in the past.
Never a truer word spoken, PaulC... the media loves to pour petrol on the flames... nothing new there. Good luck at Anfield mate... cheer the lads on! I am in envy!

Just seems a shame that people cant enjoy the football and let fellow footy fans rest in peace. Football is football and we love it, its no reason to mock such devastating events that were catastrophic to so many families. RIP munich RIP Hillsborough, hats off to you all.
Sad to hear Munich and Hillsborough have both died.

RIP.

Not interested in who sung what first. Already know who it was, as do they. The fact is we DON'T sing about Hillsbrough. Heysel yes, Hillsbrough no.

Just because they're a bunch of knuckle dragging neanderthals in singing and chanting - doesn't mean we have to stoop to their level. And we don't. But the media want a powderkeg to explode at Anfield - and they clearly are maneuvering it so that United get the blame for it kicking off against the media darlings (and you know the Sun will be right up their arse now)

They are the scum of the earth, and I hope we absolutely stuff and mount them on Sunday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has promised Liverpool total backing ahead of what will be an emotional encounter with Manchester United on Sunday.....

The game will be the first to be played at Anfield since the damning report on the Hillsborough tragedy was released last Wednesday, placing the blame for the disaster, in which 96 people died, on South Yorkshire Police and other services.

Yet the chants of a few United fans during Saturday's win over Wigan at Old Trafford highlighted the potential for trouble.

Ferguson, who has already appealed for a line to be drawn in the sand by supporters of both clubs, has offered Liverpool unqualified support.

"It is going to be a very emotional day on Sunday and we will support them in every way we can," said Ferguson.

"As a club we are totally supportive of Liverpool in the situation they are in. We understand what those families must have felt when they got that report.

"I didn't hear it (on Saturday), but others did, particularly in the directors' box. (Chief executive) David Gill was disappointed."

Some fans have argued the chant heard on Saturday - "Always the victim, never your fault" - was only sung in the immediate aftermath of Luis Suarez's racism spat with Patrice Evra.

"It is a new chant that only started after the Suarez situation," said Ferguson.

"I was disappointed to hear it. It is a minority. But in society there is a minority wanting to be heard."

Unfortunately, there will always be an element in every clubs fanbase, that brings down the good standards of most......Just like modern society has an hardcore of people who either know no better standards through their own bad upbringing, or just plainly wish to buck the decent, normal law-abiding standards of society. A recent example of Raul Moat springs to mind. This guy cowardly took a policemans life away, and yet some people paid homage to him as if he was a hero....That sickness is widespread through society and is also going to apply to certain "Football fans".

I myself, have no animosity to Liverpool, or any other Football club, including Leeds, where I work and suffer Manchester United being called "scum" by many Leeds fans.....I put it down to jealousy on their part, because of the long run of success we have had, and their lanquishing in the lower tiers of the League. I used to resent Liverpool having so much success in the 70s and 80s, but now more mature and wiser, respect them for their good management and achievements, and really sympathise with Hillsbrough.....It could have been any football team that had that disaster befall them!

So I feel heartfelt sympathy towards the families that suffered in the tragedy, as I also feel for the United contingent that died in Munich ( before I was born ) and I hope that the 2 sets of fans put their differences between them apart and remember as a football fan both sets of tragedies.

Not sure if this is in the right section of the Forum, but once again, we ( the genuine supporters of football ), send our fellow supporters our deepest sympathy to them, and to those who lost their loved ones in this terrible disaster. As we will never forget the tragedies of Hysel and Hillsborough, neither will we ever forget Munich, the Bradford fire and all the other clubs who've suffered their own disasters. God Bless you all.
