United suffer one loss after some uncharacteristically bad defending and now everyone is an expert on how to beat United. They forget that we've lost once since December and it wasn't down to being out played, it was down to a big off day from our defence, but according to this tit United have many weaknesses and it's easy to beat us(see image below).

The first part of that apparently is to keep Vidic challenging on the ground. Forget the fact that the mistake he made for Torres' goal happened when the ball was in the air, that's not important, attack him on the ground and you'll beat him, no problem.

The second part is the lack of 'bite' in midfield. In some respects I can agree to this, but the stats they are using are from the beginning of last season (when we won the Premier League and Champions League). What does last season have to do with this? According to the stats, Darren Fletcher makes less than one tackle per half, which we all know on this season's performances is bollocks. He was breaking up attacks left right and centre in the first half of the season. And what would happen to Carrick's stats if they took interceptions into account? I'm pretty sure they'd look a lot better.

Next up in the idiot's guide to beating United is to attack Patrice Evra. He did have a shocker against Aaron Lennon to be fair, but that's partly because Nani was playing on the left with him and doesn't give him as much protection as Park would. Plus Lennon is a brilliant winger and can glide past any defender in the world on one of his good days. Regardless of that, we still didn't concede a goal in the Carling Cup final, so how does that back up the theory at all? They also say that he played badly against Gerrard. Is this the same Gerrard who only touched the ball about ten times on Saturday and was largely anonymous for 90 minutes? He got past Evra once in the entire 90 minutes and he stupidly lunged in and gave away a penalty. It was an uncharacteristic mistake from a player who's been the personification of consistency for the last two years. He's hardly a weak link.

Next is Van der Sar. If you shoot from distance he'll spill the ball and gift you a goal. This is the same Van der Sar that before Sunday had conceded just one league goal since December, breaking a record in the process. None of the goals on Saturday were from spilled balls and the only one I can remember from this season was against Newcastle. His handling from long shots is usually impeccable. He does go through a spell about once a season of flapping the ball out, but it's very rare.

Last but not least. Carlos Tevez. They point to the fact that Carlos Tevez was apparently 'pressed' back towards the halfway line. Is it just me...or does Tevez drop deep whether he's being 'pressed' or not? I mean has this journalist done any research at all? Has he ever watched us play? It doesn't seem like it to me. Let's also not forget that he's omitted Rooney and Ronaldo from his little diagram who stay forward a lot more than Tevez does. He's picked our deepest lying striker in a poor attempt at adding strength to his article.

So there you have it. Follow these steps and you'll take three points off us. Shoddy 'journalism' at its best. I can't believe people get paid to put shit like this together.

great thread here zuco
it is stupid how we loose once and suddenly we went from the unbeatable to the beatable in 90 minutes, shocking really
although it dose back up my point of all this talk bout the 'quintuplet' stopping, i think if thats stopped it puts less pressure on the players back and also stops our players from believing they can win everything as if its a god given right when naturally it isnt

i think were gunna see a united with more hunger more fight and more desire

Good thread, but i don't think that teams will beat us by doing this, United just had a really bad day against Liverpool, nothing went right for them, their defence was far from best, our performance could have come down to fatigue, if you look at how many games United have played throughout the last month and so it is alot, and the United players are right now probaably feeling the affects of playing so many games, the International break though will give them a well needed breather.

On our best days, our players can beat any one to one they're in. So its useless trying any formation or different tactics, on our day we're unbeatable. And even when we are not, as this season has proved, we have got a lot of match winners whom can kill a game off in just a second. We rarely lose, and when we do its not necessarily because we are the worst team or something on the day, its that they're humans, the players are prone to a day off, but its good to know that despite every coach's try, the chance of them beating us is 1 to 100.

yea vidic made 2 big mistakes last game. yea evra in the past 2-3 weeks has been a little shaky.
but as long as this things dont happen too often, in fact its very rare, the article is crap. tho i hope evra will get thorugh this period pretty quick. we should agree that he had a few not so good matches lately, and we should also agree that united has weak spots. although not as shallow as ones in the article.

ha the fact that people are writing up 'how to beat united' articles just shows how good we are to be honest. Hopefully united players read this and it spured them on even more to bounce back from the liverpool match.

Here hoping for another unbeaten run!

It wouldn't surprise me if Fergie used stuff like this on the players to build up some of that 'siege mentality'.

The things people would do and say just to try beat us:rofl:
This just shows how good we are that people have to come out with crap like this, taking our bad points from a worst performence of the season :whistling: get hold of yourself who ever wrote this:wacko:

What next?? Funding money for Universities to do research on us:rtfm:

The joys of been the best:first:

Wait, Scholes has a better tackle success rate than Fletcher?

Got a point about van der Sar though. He's quick coming out of the goal for those one-on-one opportunites, but I do get nervous when a long shot comes his way. He just doesn't have the assurance of a Cech or a Buffon.

i dont think weve played that well this season at all but look at us were in a great position going for all trophys.
totally agree we have not hit the heights this year , but we are in a better position than last year.
i think our football was a lot quicker and more incisive last season

Interesting article but I dont think these are necessarily ways to ensure beating United. Sure over the past 2 games or so Evra has had some trouble down his flank but as its been mentioned, Park was not there to cover in all occassions.

The one part I do agree with though is perhaps the long range shooting - although VDS had a fantastic record, he sometimes has these awkward moments when it comes to dealing with long-range shots. But its only SOMETIMES, not something that would guarantee "beating" United

I agree with Zuco that this article is mainly rubbish. Knee-jerk reaction from the media if ever I saw one. Before this game they were raving on about the Quintuple and now that we've lost one game (heavily, admittedly), there's plenty of ways to beat us.

We play about 20 games unbeaten, not conceding any goals in the league, and then our usual world-class defence, who often don't make more than about 3 or 4 bad mistakes a season, make more than that in one game - completely out of character - and suddenly journalists think there are loads of ways to analyse us?

We had a very bad game! It happens! We're still the best team in Europe.
