City ain't United class !

HUNTELAAR WASN'T KEEN ON CITY

Klaas Jan Huntelaar says he shunned interest from Manchester City in the summer, but could have been tempted by an offer from rivals United.

The Dutch striker will join Real Madrid in January after agreeing a contract with the Spanish champions until 2013.

Huntelaar, who passed a medical on Wednesday, has established himself as one of the leading forwards in Europe following his exploits at Ajax over the past three years.

Reports have claimed that City tried to sign the 25-year-old before the close of the summer transfer window as they made bids for a string of high-profile players.

But Huntelaar, who was regularly linked with City's local rivals United, has suggested Mark Hughes' side were not a club he was keen to join.

"There was interest in the summer, but these weren't the clubs we had thought about," said Huntelaar in The Sun.

"Manchester City didn't meet our criteria.

"Manchester United? Maybe that would have been another story!"

No chance, Madrid would never sell to us unless Ronaldo was involved in the deal, would of LOVED to see Huntleaar in the premiership, his record in dutch football is impressive, but it is the ducth league after all, he would of been worth the gamble, if you look at others who have come over like RVn did really well, but then again you have others like Kuyt and Alves who have just been average whereas they were prolific in Holland. And on topic about City, I really doubt any high profile will join them until they win something but saying that Robinho came, they'll purchase players in January no doubt but I doubt you'll see anyone big moving such as Kaka.

while there will be those mercenaries that go there just for the cash there will be plenty of top players who turn them down, owners are living in dreamland thinking that can clicl their fingers open their wallets and get anyone to come.

they are still the danny devitos' of football

City may get used to this kind of snub . If the likes of United, Milan , Madrid or Barcalona express an interest in a player , then City ,even with all their money will find it hard to persusde them to join them . Thats Berbatov and now Huntelaar who have turned down City , how embarrasing it must be .

Until City are regularly playing in the Champions League, and up in/near the top 2 on a regular basis as well, they'll continue to get snubbed when bidding for players against the likes of Barca, Real, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan etc.
