Important penalties should be taken by ugly players. The uglier the better.

OK, so Stuart Pearce missed THAT penalty against Germany at Ialia 90, but English players are quite fond of missing penalies against Germany.

Besides that though, I'm starting to see a pattern of important penalties being missed by players, who would generally considered to be good-looking.

I just feel that players who were not blessed with good looks have more to prove.

It's a good thing Andi Brehme took the penalty in the final of Italia '90 and not Lothar Matthaeus or Argentina would have won the World Cup.

Before you give me all the examples against what I have noticed, consider this:

Mutu vs Italy

Ronaldo vs Chel$ki

Anelka vs Man Utd

Ronaldo vs Barcelona

De Rossi vs Man Utd

David Beckham vs Portugal

Baggio vs Brazil

I'm sure some smug remarks will follow, so I feel like putting a discalimer, but already think it will be futile. :)

So, the uglier the better when it comes to taking really important penalties. Unless it's an English player.

Whenever a team is awarded a very important penalty, it should be taken by someone super ugly. I mean really, really fugly.

Like Ivan Campo ugly or someone who is so ugly, his own mother couldn't love his face like Ronaldinho and Javier Mascherano. I'm sure they score all the important penalties.

I apologise, if I have offended those that are in favour of aesthetic equality, but i think when it comes to taking penalties, it's better to look like Carlos Tevez or Franck Ribery.

Apart from this weeks disagreement between us both i have got to agree with you :)
That one was only ridiculous for the non existence
of evidence you put forward to support your theory
and complete lack of anything to discredit mine.

I'm glad you have the humility to recognize when
your contributions to a thread are ridiculous :)

I have some nice PM's from several members to tell
me who won the debate (if you could call it that)

Have fun in your self delusion ;)
