Although we all love to see new exciting players arriving at the club, I personally think we are comfortably strong in every position, does anyone really believe big strengthening in the summer is necessary?

I think its necessary to buy every year to show your intent and to freshen
things up. Fergie also has to make sure all the players are kept on their toes
regarding fighting for a first team place.

We have Manucho to come in and players like Campbell and/or Wellbeck could
get their chance. Though I still think we have to buy a quality striker (hunt, Berb
or Eto'o perhaps)

The daSilva twins will be integrated into the squad slowly but
surely, but they will make their marks further down the line.

We have the likes of Simmo, Pique and Evans (if he comes back) to start making
some apps. here and there. Nev and Silvestre will also be back in business.

So defensively I feel we are covered although the prospect of adding a player
of Lahm's ability could be too hard to turn down.

Midfield- Central midfield we are sorted. Wingers-Up till recently I would have
said we were ok.....but hear me out.

Giggs is a legend but I think we ALL know his time is coming to an end over the
next season or 2.
Nani has yet to convince me despite his huge number of assists and occasional
wondergoal. He is a bit of a headless chicken and his final pass/shot often leaves
a lot to be desired.
Park will graft all day for you but shouldnt he be doing a lot more offensively?

Those 3 would be squad members for me next season. That leaves Ronaldo
who certainly does his bit (40 goals ffs) .
Im wondering if the likes of Anderson could fill in on the left and Hargo on the
right. Fergie might try and play them there.
but a winger like Ribery would be the ultimate. I would have loved to see him
at United before going to Munich.

In goals we are flush so in conclusion the only player we REALLY need is a
world class striker. We can be hugely competitive again with the squad we have.

I think that Fraizer C., Wayne R., Carlos T. and my favourite Louis S. are potent enough.
I like Saha as well but if he's never going to play.....what can you do with him?
I just think we need to add more quality up front. Say Rooney or Tevez get
injured then things get tricky.
You forgot to mention Manucho who I feel could go on to do well at United.

As usual Jazz drags a perfect post out of the bag :p

And I would agree with it. Striker is the only position we NEED somebody imo, but if we got the chance to sign a player like Lahm, who on Earth should we say no?

I would like to see Lahm, a winger and a striker just for more options but we only NEED a striker imo. Just think, Tevez, Rooney, Manucho, Santa Cruz/Huntelaar/Eto'o etc, and, counting Saha, we would become unstoppable up front.

If we had Tevez, Rooney, Manucho and Saha, I would be delighted. But because of Saha's injury problems, we really need another striker, even if Saha is staying for next year.

Spot on, left mid and up front are the only potential weaknesses.

We tend to forget how lucky we are to have CR knocking them in week in week out, if he were to have a dip next year (unlikely but possible) or get injured (quite possible considering the abuse he takes) we would have a tough time replacing his goals and assists.

For all the great running and link play of Tevez and Rooney, I would love us to have a decent playholding striker who can attack some of the decent crosses we stick in, Manucho might well do the job from (what I have seen of him, he looks tidy) but we need more depth there.

Santa Cruz doesnt look like he fancies the move and nor does Huntelaar, Eto'o is being shifted and would be excellent. To be honest, there are plenty of guys out there who fit the bill, with the type of service that United provide, any one of a dozen players who are available would hit 20+ in a season. No doubt SAF has a plan in place, just can't wait to see who it is.

I'd agree with most of that. I'd like to see Anderson on the left, something we haven't seen yet. I don't think a winger is necessary though, I think we are crying out for a big centre forward.

Also, the whole idea of Simpson, Campbell or Wellbeck making the team would be good but it ain't going to happen. In the past 10 years only O'Shea, Fletcher and Brown have come to the first team from the youths and 3 of them arguably wouldn't play if everyone was fit. With the form Rossi had shown, I thought SAF would stick with him but I feel that SAF has lost faith with youngsters and the only way to compete with Chelsea is spend big bucks.

To be honest I haven't seen this guy yet. And if we add more quality (matured players like Eto'o, Berbatov..) up front, older players who won't play regularly could feel dissapointed and could make some evil climate within the dressing room...but young ones (Fraizer) don't expect to play in every match, so they won't doubt manager's choice..so if this Manucho is young, it's good and we don't need another striker at the moment.

Agree with most of it, except the wingers part. This is only Nani's first season after all, we can't expect miracles of him. We've seen flashes of what he is capable of doing.
Nani will come good next season, i'm sure of it.

I hope your right. Tbh Im still well annoyed with Nani.
But we are manchester United, we should have a world class player in
EVERY position. Nani has the potential to become great but he is a fair bit
off if Im being honest. Giggs is winding down and Park will never be a world
beater. Thats my only concern....Ronaldo is our only top top winger.
When Chelsea won the league they had 4 quality wingers, SWP, Duff, Robben
and Cole.
I just think if we lose Ronaldo to injury or whatever we lose a lot of the
penetration on the flank/s.
I dont particularly think we need a winger but its an area we could look at.

I said before that we only need a striker. If anyone else comes it will be a
bonus/surprise.

he usually does surprise us yes....
The transfer merry go round does infuriate me at times.
I guess we have more important things to worry about in the meantime, like
Wigan on sunday and the CL final........
Worry about that now and then spent the summer speculating about
a million players.
