Is there something wrong at OT ?

First the terrible show at West Ham,then a tremendous struggle against Birmingham makes me wonder if all is not well at the Old Trafford,
We seem now to struggle to score again, now is that Fergie swapping the team around or is it that we lack a leader like Berbatov ? I think the latter,ok Tevez huffs and puffs a lot but does very little else, and Saha, well sooner gone the better I say, Rooney would perform much better with someone like the Spurs forward and until that problem is addressed I think we will find goals hard to come by.

charles you may have a point.

Saha I still believe is a top striker and player but at this level you can't be relying every week on a player to pass fitness or always being worried he'll be injured again.

I think we should buy Berba and pay whatever Spurs want, God knows Fergie has wasted far more on utter sh*te throughout the years.

He has the same aura about him as Cantona and he has and is still proving himself to be one of the best strikers in the league, if not the best at the moment.

We have had a bad spell of late, some poor tactics by Fergie, and poor performances from our players.

I think Fergie will do something about it and we'll be back to usual in no time, and hopefully all of our players will get their heads down and start working and concentrating and showing some heart and desire.

I think with Rooney back and Tevez playing well we will get the goals, and of course Ronaldo.

Just a bad patch, I don't think there's any need to worry, yet.

I wouldnt particurally call Berbatov a leader but he is a great player and Id love to see him at OT. The West Ham game was an off day, which will happen to every team this season. Tevez has been great for us, a revelation even. Saha needs to be given time. He scored 2 against Sunderland so he is starting to regain his form.

We have the FA cup coming up, going along nicely in the CL, only 2 points behind Arsenal and 2nd in the Prem. We still have a lot more to offer this season and really hit top gear and we have lots of players to come back in as well.

So no need to worry at all, even if we dont buy in this transfer window.
We are in a strong position and usually perform our best in the second half of the season. Im pretty happy with the season so far....and it WILL get better imo.
I've never known a player to slit opinion like Saha. Personally I think he's no way good enough to be a United player but other fans seem to fancy him. I've zero confidence in him when we play the big teams. Ok last season he scored against Chelsea but for the rest of the game he did nothing. would rather have gone for Carew than him. Big John may not get 20+ a season but opens up the game for others.

Of course,he's a good enough player for United. He just lacks the sharpness of a fully fit striker.Remember,he was ravaged by injures and now he does'nt look fully fit.Thats why SAf is looking for a striker, not because of the lack of goals, but because of saha's uncertaincy.
Not that this is the reason but footballers have been bothering me for quite a while. Why? Their alleged "superstar" status, goal celebrations, arrogant attitude and, from a friend on the inside - their holier than thou attitude, on an ego trip of titanic proportions.

Footballers have become ego driven media monsters. Fergie is one of the only managers in the UK who will not put up with it and sells them double quick.
Fergie needs to get active on the transfer market and get at least one striker and a right back. Besides that united are fine. iIt's just a bad patch. Every team has them some point in the season.

I have got to agree with you there 100%, most are overpaid over hyped look at me ego trippers.

Sadly maybe 10 years ago ( maybe 5 or 4 ) SAF would have done what you say but not nowadays..........Money comes first and talks loudest.

Although SAF says it's down to the fans....the same fans as the top people want in the ground, the ones who are told to sit down, the ones who pay the most for tickets/season tickets, the ones who wont get behind the team, the ones who dont sing, the ones who don't have any love or real passion for United.......But the ones who will spend the most money.

To quote the great SAF himself from live interview on TV...

"It was like a funeral out there and we needed them (the crowd) to lift us a bit. We needed that today.
"It was the quietest I have heard here for some time and the atmosphere today did not help us".

A good friend comments and i have to agree.

Good to be there, enjoyed the game, but hated the atmosphere. Hated sitting down in North Tier 2. Hated the nobs around me being quiet. Hated all the tourists with their flashing cameras. Hated how people sniggered when some around me tried to start songs. I also didnt enjoy the day. Freebie or not here's one who wont be going again.

Have they introduced a compulsory shopping scheme as well as the compulsory careless cup ticket scheme because on the alty tram on the way home when we stopped at OT, i kid you not. but every single one of the people who got on had at least one megawhore bag.

REAL players and REAL supporters are virtually a thing of the past sadly........Top flight football will, in my eyes, implode on itself within the next five years. It's already been going that way for quite a few years now.

Perhaps it's no coincidence that we've struggled in the 2 games in which Fergie was banned from the touchline...
I do not know why SAF is criticising the United faithful, when I was watching the match on MUTV I heard alot of noise from the stands and secondly, it was New Years day for cripe sakes! The regulars would of preferred to stay home with their families on that bank holiday and they would of sold their tickets to people who don't regularly see a game at Old Trafford, hence the subdued atmosphere.

When I was at Old Trafford sitting in the lower tier of the North West quadrant, I was the only person singing loud and proud, during the game, most of the noise was coming from the Stretford end above me.
A person leading the public around the ground commented only recently, "United are not a football club, it is a business" ............................. nuff sed.
Interesting post Sal...

This was written on another forum and is what many match going fans are thinking right now....:
NO ATMOSPHERE, FERGIE? HERE'S WHY…

PROPER, HARDCORE REDS ARE FED UP with STUPID PRICES, ABSURD KICK OFFS, OVER-ZEALOUS STEWARDS, DAY TRIPPERS, SEATS, SUITS, CORPORATES, NO AWAY TICKETS , PRAWNS, £6 A PINT, £100K p/w AND MOST OF ALL NOT BEING LISTENED TO. WE LOVE UNITED, BUT BY CHRIST FERGIE WE'RE BEING TESTED.....

WILL WE EVER GET BACK
THE REALMANCHESTER UNITED?

and this was written on the bbc messageboards which I thought was amusing:"I did have an awful head yesterday when I woke up but a quiet afternoon at Old Trafford helped me."

Enough said indeed ;)

A few hearts sank in the room when he said that.

Anyway that's how it goes. There is nothing we as fans can do because there for every fan that is willing to make a stand there will always be millions who do not care and will do nothing.
shame that this slight problem is arising.Ive watched united mathces when evryone was off their seats with thier flags waved high and singing at hte top of thier lungs. Now only the hardcore United fans try to bring back those glory days.

Two bad games and suggestions of something being wrong at OT

hmmm.......all its because is the squad rotation (as it is one of the busiest/hardest times of the season for everyone).

Me myself have no worries at all atm, we were missing some of our best players in both games. Lets not forget we didnt have our great manager at the touchline aswel, and we all know Queiroz isnt the most attack minded person you'll find. Maybe thats got something to do with it?

Bang on ! Nailed it in the head!
Can I just jump in here, I watched Paddy Crerand's show on MUTV and he's been exclaiming to the fans that SAF didn't not complain about the fans, he just said that it was too quiet, and Paddy said there's a different slant on what the manager said to the cameras and what the papers have been saying. SAF, all he said was that the stadium was too quiet, he hasn't complained about anything, this is just your typical tabloids blowing things out of proportion. Things have been percieved incorrectly by the press.
