it looks like keano will miss out on another transfer target in mido who looks set to join boro

i have to say that i am shocked at the number of players who have turned down sunderland this summer

i thought players would be jumping at the chance to play for the great man with the stature he has in the game and all he has acheived

its not like they dont have any money to spend and there stadium is in the top 5 biggest in the prem with a great fan base.
when robbo went to boro he signed some great players at the time ie: ravanelli (coming from the then champs of europe) juninho, (brazils player of the year at the time) and many others.

they all signed for boro coz of robbo so why is keano finding it so hard to sign good players?

i think sunderland will do quite well this year. the reason they cant attract big names is because they only got promoted to the premiership last season if they do well this year then bigger names will come next year.

How could he attract really big names - with the line "Come and join me I MIGHT do OK !!!"

Give him time to prove he is serious contender in management and the players will come to him.........If he does tooooo well he might turn United down in the future

Its fair to say that he has missed out on a fair few players but he has brought in some real characters with strength of body and mind. Gordon is a great keeper, McShane is a bargain buy who is totally fearless. Anderson and Halford are gutsy defenders, Etuhu is a strong machine in the middle and Chopra WILL get him goals despite what everyone thinks. Sure look at the last kick of the game against Spurs. Even Richardson should do well when he gets regular football. A lot of shrewd buys there IMO. He will have more pulling power over the years the more successful Sunderland become. People will definitely want to come play for him.
