Italian champions Inter Milan have revealed that signing Chelsea's Frank Lampard is their priority this summer.

New Inter manager Jose Mourinho is keen to capture the England midfielder from his former club, with whom Lampard has yet to sign a new contract extension.

Inter president Massimo Moratti told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport: "He's our number one objective. Mourinho likes Lampard a lot."

Moratti hinted Inter may have already started negotiations with the Blues.

He added: "Has there been contact with Chelsea? I think there has but I don't know yet."

Lampard's current deal expires next summer and both the 29-year-old and the London club said last month that they were confident of striking a deal.

Mourinho To Lampard: You Won't Finish Second Here

Jose Mourinho has told Frank Lampard to come to Inter as the Nerazzurri prepare to prize the player away from Stamford Bridge according to Tuttosport.

Reports in Italy claim that Luis Felipe Scolari's arrival as well as Deco's possible move to West London are pushing Lampard out. Mourinho is a big admirer of the midfielder and they enjoyed an excellent relationship when the Portuguese coach was in charge at the Bridge.

According to Tuttosport, Mourinho recently spoke to Lampard and he tried to convince the player to move to San Siro and the coach told his former star: "Come to Inter, you will not finish second here."

Nerazzurri transfer guru Marco Branca has proposed Lampard a €6m per season deal and it is believed Inter are looking towards Article 17 in order to try and land the player for €8m.

Moratti however isn't to keen on using FIFA regulations to help bring Lampard to Milan.

Chelsea chief Roman Abramovich is interested in Mario Balotelli and he will only begin talks for Lampard if Inter are willing to give up their teenage striking sensation but this is highly unlikely as Moratti is not willing to play the Balotelli card.

The Italian born striker has only recently just signed his first professional contract with Inter and it seems as if his future lies at San Siro.

Moratti is a big admirer of Lampard and the Nerazzurri has tried in the past to get him. It's likely that he will not let his chance slip this time if the England international is pushed out when Scolari starts using his muscle to bring in, push out and shake it all about.

He could be a good signing for them. To be honest I used to hate him but since then I've learned to stop hating players just because they play for Chelsea. :D

Truth be told he ain't as bad as alot of people would like to think. Yes he whinges. Yes he's an annoying prat. However I've revised my opinion about his scoring.

I used to be one of those people who accused him of scoring 20 goals a season 15 from deflections.

When you look at the facts Lampard has only scored 6 deflected goals for Chelski. Hard to believe actually. Anyway a deflected goal is no less valid.

He scores goals. He may not go down as a great but he is not as bad as some say. I still can't stand him though.
