Udinese sporting director Pietro Leonardi denied rumours linking striker Fabio Quagliarella to Manchester United.
Fabio Quagliarella will not be leaving Udine. That was confimed today by Udinese's sporting director Pietro Leonardi, who thereby silenced intensifying rumours linking the striker to Manchester United.
"We don't pay any attention to those kinds of rumours" said Leonardi. "We have no intention of letting go of such an important player for the growth of the team. We have started a new cycle."
The Udinese manager continued talking about the frequent rumours surrounding the club's players: "It's been since last summer that transfer rumours have surrounded our players.
"On one side, it can be good for us, because it means we have talented players, but it can also be distracting for those involved: fortunately our players are intelligent aside from being talented."
Quagliarella has been sought out by a number of big-name clubs since last season, when he scored a number of great goals with Sampdoria, and made a memorable debut with the Azzurri, scoring twice during the Euro 2008 qualifier away to Lithuania.
