Former World Cup-winning Italy Coach Marcello Lippi believes that Inter, Roma and Milan can all progress to the next round of the Champions League.

The three Italian teams have all been handed monster ties with Inter facing Liverpool, Roma up against Real Madrid, and holders Milan clashing with Arsenal.

"We are talking about three finals so it is impossible to make predictions,†Lippi told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But if all six teams play at 150%, then all three Italian teams will go through, although Roma are at slightly more risk.â€

Liverpool vs Inter Milan

Lippi started by talking about the tie between Liverpool and Inter.

"Whether Fernando Torres plays is important,†said the 59-year-old in reference to the Liverpool star's recent injury.

“The Spaniard moves with balance and is deadly.

“[For Inter] Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Esteban Cambiasso are their star. The Champions League is the road towards the Golden Ball and other prizes. He has learned how to score goals with continuity.â€

Arsenal vs AC Milan

Lippi then offered his opinion on the tie of the round between Arsenal and AC Milan.

"Soon Pato will return,†he said when asked if the loss of Ronaldo will be significant.

“The boy is a little phenomenon. Ancelotti will do everything possible to recover him. Pato can be useful as a substitute.

"You might think that the youngsters of Arsenal will just brush aside the Rossoneri. Wrong. Milan will be in London with the champions of Europe and the World. "I do have a weakness for Emmanuel Adebayor though.â€

Real Madrid vs AS Roma

Finally Lippi spoke about the tie between Roma and Real Madrid.

"For one month Totti and his team-mates have been thinking only of Real,†said the coach when trying to explain Roma's recent poor form in Serie A.

“They have the potential to go through. Playing at home first is not an advantage. At Rome a 0-0 would suffice. The important thing is not to conceded any goals. And at the Bernabeu anything can happen.â€

he is right in 2 cases......the inter and ac milan game but not the roma one....roma is in poor form and real madrid are in great form....real madrid has changed a lot from the time schuster took over and after his appointment the galacticos days were finished.....now the real madrid team is playing good football and getting the results......
in the case of the other two games
inter are flying high in the serie a....they are the team to beat in the UCL......but dont put down liverpool yet......they are giant killers in the UCL(like the barcelona game last year and the AC milan game when they won the UCL)....they can beat the team to beat!!!!!!!!
the AC Milan vs Arsenla game will be the interesting one.....although AC were having problems when the draw for the round of 16 were made they are a different team now....they are coming back to their old selves....arsenla have been absolutely great this season and they have a very good side....but the saturday game against united must have knocked a little off their confidence....but they can still beat AC......its gonna be very interesting these games.....

great post Akash.
I agree with you. No chance of Roma going through.
Im hoping the 2 Milan's go through....
I dont think Liverpool have a chance even though they have performed heroics in the Cl in the past.
Milan vs Arse should be a lot closer. I think Milan's experience and class will see them through.

I really can't see Roma beating Madrid. Real lost against Betis at the weekend but when they are on form they are capable of destroying teams at the moment. They are top of La Liga and Roma are 11 points behind Inter in Serie A and have just lost a big game against Juve.

Arsenal v AC Milan is a tough one to call. AC Milan have some terrific players - one of the best midfields in Europe but their ageing defence could struggle to keep up with the pace of Arsenal's passing and attacks. Milan have found some form in Serie A and have risen from mid-table (albeit with games in hand due to the World Club Championship) to 4th. I'm gonna have to sit on the fence with this one!

I would be surprised if Inter Milan are beaten by Liverpool. Inter are running away with Serie A and have brilliant attacking options as well as a solid defence. Liverpool, on the otherhand, are s***e.
