Hamburg beat Prem giants to starlet
Hamburg capture Nigerian hot-shot
By Chris Ives Last updated: 13th November 2007

Bundesliga stats
Hamburg have pulled off a major coup after announcing the capture of Nigerian Macauley Chrisantus.

The 17-year-old had looked to be on his way to the Premier League with Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all interested in landing him.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Ajax, Internazionale and Milan were also showing an interest in the young striker, who won the Golden Ball at the World Under 17 Championship earlier this year.

But now Hamburg have managed to agree a deal to take him from Abuja FC.

Delight

"We are delighted that we were able to convince him of our concept," HSV sport director Dietmar Beiersdorfer told the club's official website.

Chrisantus has agreed an initial amateur contract at the HSH Nordbank Arena and he will then sign a professional deal at the end of the season.

The amount of youngsters we sign labelled the next "Ronaldinho" and the next "Keane"...It would be just our luck if this kid turned out to be the next actual Keane or Ronaldinho...:D

German born Ghanian to be more specific.

I can't believe he;d join them. I suppose someone will snap him up in a few years when he has more experience and maturity.
To be Fair, he and his Agent said it wasnt going to be a Financial decion but a Footballing One, he is going to get more Playing time At Hamburg than here at OT or Chelsea and Liverpool,

So that will help him Develop Faster and More,

We Never no we might sign him in 3/4 years time :D Should have a German Passport then so wont need to worry about a Work Permit
