Manchester City's new owners are rumoured to have ten times the financial strength of Roman Abramovich and have already issued a statement of intent while confirming their takeover by pledging to "solve all the club problems and clear any pending payments, and will comprehensively support the club by bringing the best football players in the world" to Eastlands.

They also pledge to achieve success in the Premier League, but also "European and world level" would be the aim, with "the qualification of Manchester City to the European Champions League (for) next season 2009-10" also highlighted in the statement.

There are several possible scenarios that could happen at man City now under new ownership:

1. **** all changes and everything remains the same. Managers change more often than I change my underwear/wardrobe and their seasons are marked by erratic performances.

2. They manage to break into the top 4 and fulfill Thaksin's vision of turning Manchester into a footballing city like Milan where two great teams vie for glory.

3. Sir Alex Ferguson will stay on longer as manager to try his best to prevent City becoming a footballing powerhouse.

4. After quitting management, Sir Alex reneges on his often-shared intention to quit football altogether by taking on a senior role at Old Trafford. He would be able to mentor the new manager or function a technical director, maybe expnding the scouting network and improving the academy.

5. A more level playing field could intensify the rivalry between City and United fans like we see between Rangers and Celtic fans in Glasogw, as well as Inter and Milan fans. More money and on-field success would surely fuel those with lower IQs with more courage - never a good combo.

6. In a rare turn of events, more senior Blues could find themselves struggling to accept the new owners and become so disillusioned by football that they quit being fans altogether. After a brief break from their fave sport, however, they realise they cannot exist without football and start supporting the Red Devils instead. :D

7. An arab version of Blue Moon, sung by Khalid, will be played before every home game. English subtitles will be screened on the stadiums' screens.

8. Pubs around the Eastlands experience a boom, because alcohol will not be permitted in the stadium. Goat's milk and unleavened bread replace larger and pies.

9. Tal ben Haim to be sold in the January transfer window.

abu dhabi united own city.

until they can remove the small club tag by getting results, no-one will want to come to city. look at the ronaldinho saga. they were nowhere near close to getting him and berbatov will want to line up against rooney tevez and ronaldo NOT jo, wright-phillips and petrov.

We still have the history.

Only thing i hope is that city knock liverpool out the top 4 cos that would be really funny. rather see city there in place of the scousers.

I'd rather see Tottenham in The Top 4 and knock Liverpool and City out. Although it'd be great too see the scousers knocked out of the Top 4, period.

They might have the money, but they do not have the prestige and History of Man Utd.

Red rules over Manchester, it'll be a cold day in hell before City take us over.

All that money doesn't guarantee anything. They have to compete with Us, Chelski..and maybe even Arsenal...who've got huge amounts of potential within their line-up...

agreed abo, its getting ridiculous- but how can anyone stop it
no one can stop it :(
it will never stop
after 10 years Messi/Ronaldo/Kaka decide to play for American/Gulf leagues
"i am a bum pay me money" people notice that football = $$$$$$$$
Rich bums go buy midtable teams from the big leagues and turn them into major power
and teams with history will have to survive for eufa cup position
imo after 30 year teams like Manchester united/Liverpool/Arsenal/Barcelona/Juventus/Acmilan
will be keep forgotten in the histroy books and teams like Citteh/Chelski will be successful

It wouldn't be a bad thing if Liverpool were forgotten in History. But it won't happen to those teams. I think you're over-exaggerating it.

Its the only way they'll ever compete with the big teams. Otherwise, what chance do they have? Its the same 4 teams competing..It'd be nice for some competition...

Yeah and it would be a shame if rich bums bought the team that went to be the Champions of Europe.

Al Ciddeh is just another example of expensive toys for little rich boys.
