Manchester United are keeping tabs on contract talks between Micah Richards and Manchester City.

The Mirror says negotiations have stalled over Richards' demand for a buy-out clause to be inserted in the new agreement.

Although there is no suggestion the talks are in danger of collapsing, it is clear the situation is some way from being resolved.

Chelsea made known their interest in Richards back in January, but did not follow it up with a firm offer, while City's rivals United are said to be considering a move for the player next summer.

Would love to see him ina United shirt, Be a great right-back replacment for Nev, Only thing is would he leave City and go to their Rivals?? I can see him signing a long term extension to his Man City contract, But if he got a buy out clause inserted into the contract would be good because if it was a realistic price and United went in for him then its a strong possibility he may be a United some time down the line. Too be honest i cant see him being at Man City for years as i can see a big team going in for him, Can see all the big 4 being interested, maybe even further a field. I think that if England qualifiy for Euro 2008 and he has a good tournament many of the big European clubs will be keeping tabs on him!

He should comet to United and he knows it. Moving to the rivals doesnt matter. Its not like there our biggest rivals, we hate the scousers much more, they just got a minority complex against us. The buy out clause is so that United can get him when City stumble and fall.

Most of the top European clubs are already keeping tabs on him as he is one of the best young players in world football. He will probably sign a new contract anyway and with City on the up and up he is bound to stay there for the next few years. New owner with lots of cash, new manager with lots of experience and connections and lots of seemingly great new players. Hate to say it but they look like they will get into Europe this season and for many years to come. He has no reason to leave for now. And as much as I would love to see him in a United shirt I really doubt it will ever happen. I guess it all depends on his aspirations and what he wants to achieve. Lets wait and see....

why would city sell him they don't need the money...
Sometimes near the end of a contract the player can make it known maybe he like to leave and what can City do about this ? Not much once contract is expiring.

If I was Richards I would want to play for the biggest team for sure.

He is very good quality too - everytime he play for England I make him man of the match !!!

If i was Richards i'd move to Man Utd!!

I'd respect him greatly if he signed on at City for a few years and tried to build them into a big club however.

the longer he stays at city the less chance we have of signing him, he will grow closer and closer to the fans who adore him there. he's already made it clear he will sign a new contract at city.

although city are not our biggest rivals (as some one said in an earlier post) we are deffo there biggest rivals. so i dont think we'll sign him

He's such a versatile player. He's capable of playing at centre-back, right-back and in midfield. I even read in one of the gossip columns that he wants to try playing as a striker!

He's a talented kid and City won't be able to hold onto someone of that ability unless they show they are capable of challenging the big 4.

he is just the perfect replacement for neville, he has strength speed, he is pretty close to becoming a perfect defender, Imo he is the best young english talent apart from rooney. But to be honest, I can clearly see him either staying in city for a couple of years, or city selling to chelsea instead of us. great talent though
