Manchester United are ready to hand Rio Ferdinand a new long-term contract.

The News of the World says United want to keep Ferdinand at Old Trafford for life - but the England star will demand wage parity with top earners Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

he's already on 120k a week he's not long since signed a new contract
Yeah, he got a bit of stick for delaying signing a new contract. After the support we gave him when he missed his drugs test many fans expected better.

Let's hope he puts pen to paper more readily this time.

cmon guys, every one deserves time to negotiate a new contract. he had already said in public millions of times he would sign, these things take time and to be honest i don't think he got time

no one would of made an issue out of it if he hadn't missed that drugs test and we all know he was just stupid in missing that test and totally innocent

rio is one of my fav players and IMO he will finish his career at united

IMO he'll leave and end elsewhere! Fergie wont be around when he is finishing his career. His legs will have gone, new manager = new defence! IMO of course.

Top player, hope he extends!

Rio Ferdinand had gone 1,021 minutes without conceding a goal for Manchester United and England before Roman Pavluchenko struck. His next spell lasted four minutes. (The Times) lol 'football eh? bloody hell'
Why does his record with England matter? He was lined up next to a Man City, Pompey and Everton player! And he had Paul 'Butter Fingers' Robinson behind him.

His clean sheet record for United is what they should be reporting about - that run still continues!
