Porto are desperate to hold onto star defender Jose Bosingwa, but Manchester United could test their resolve with a summer swoop...
No sooner has the January transfer window slammed shut that Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly thinking about summer spending.
The wily gaffer is lining up a £15million raid for Porto star Jose Bosingwa, according to the News of the World.
Manchester United were amongst the Premiership clubs linked with the 25-year-old Portuguese in January, alongside Tottenham and Aston Villa. Spurs, though, switched their attention to £9million Rangers man Alan Hutton.
Boswinga is one of the most highly rated defenders in Europe at present, with Porto stating that they would consider selling "if we receive an enormous amount of money."
Sources indicate that those enormous amounts of money, though, could be closer to £22million.
The pacy Portugal star has been watched by United scouts on a number of occasions and the Manchester giants hope that assistant boss Carlos Quieroz could help lure the player, who has indicated that the Portuguese contingent at the reigning English champions makes United an attractive destination.

Bosingwa, who was signed for Porto from Boavista in 2003 by Jose Mourinho, is excited by the link.
"Being linked with United is a positive thing as it means I am performing well," he enthused. "United are a sensational club."
"To play next to Cristiano Ronaldo, Anderson and Nani is such a big advantage.
"But until the end of the season I think only of Porto. I want to fight for the Champions League."
FC Porto are preparing for a Champions League last 16 knock-out round tie with Schalke 04, while Manchester United face Olympique Lyon later this month.
