Mascherano the 'new Roy Keane' ?

Before Sunday's showdown between us and Liverpool, Rafa was telling everyone that Masherano was the new Roy Keane - while subtlety mocking us for spending millions in trying to replace our former captain.

Rafa highlighted the Argentinean's similar style, leadership and will to win...but, he missed out Keano's uncontrollable temper that got the better of him a few times during his United career. Rafa was wrong. The guy just lost his head. Blew the lid off .

Did Benitez's endorsement put too much pressure on Mascherano, especially in front of a United crowd - or is he just not too bright? I just got irritated when I saw him . The face and the sarcastic laugh, huh :mad:

No one can replace Roy Keane BUT I did think Mascherano is the closest till date when I first saw him playing for River Plate and then Corinthians and Argentina...he is a world class dmc but I can't stop laughing at him and his sending off and at how dumb he is! lmao hahha

kEAN is irreplaceable !!! no matter how long it takes. those are copy cats bieng made by rafa the 'rotator' to cover his failures. javier was just outsmarted in that midfield and was just becoming desperate with everything like a drowning chap!!!!

Mascherano is good but he hasn't showed me any reason why he should be compared to Keano other than flipping out at the ref on sunday.

Players who have been compared to Keane or called the new Keane:

Liam Miller, Djembe Djembe, Steven Gerard, Kleberson, Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Hargreaves etc.

None of them have come close. Gerard is a good player and scores a lot but he goes missing too often in the big games and that crowd he insists on playing with just make him look better than he is.

He's an idiot and he just has one of those faces you'd love to punch, I hate the guy.

he was annoyed by the united crowd singing all we hear is radio ga ga to him and when rio whispered freddies not dead to him he snapped . great player in the making i think but a bit like johhny foriegner in old firm games he was too wound up

Sorry but you made me laugh a little. Even though I've always supported Man United I've never shared the rivalry with Liverpool apart from smiling when we beat them.:) With that in mind you can hardly accuse Gerrard of disappearing in big games. I remember him scoring an absolute screamer from 30 yards against us actually, though that was back when we had Barthez.:eek: I'll try and find the link to the footage. He's always delivered and for those who say he's only good in the champions league, he did more or less win them the FA Cup and ask yourself where Liverpool would be if they didn't have Gerrard? They wouldn't be worried about losing fourth place to Everton. They'd be worried about losing 10th place to West Ham. :D
