Barcelona star Lionel Messi confesses that he could play in the Premier League at some point in the future.

The 21-year-old, who is preparing for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg with Chelsea, has previously stated his desire to remain at Camp Nou for the duration of his career.

However, 2009 World Player of the Year candidate Messi has now hinted that he may be interested in a move to England in later seasons.

Although the Argentina international maintains that he is happy with Barca, his recognition of the quality of the Premier League could alert the wealthy likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.

"The football in England is great, just as it is in Spain," Messi told Uefa's official website.

Brilliant
"But for now I'm very settled and feel really valued at Barcelona.

"I know the Premier League is a great league, but Barcelona is a big part of my life and I'm not thinking of anything else.

"With time, we'll see. You never know."

Meanwhile, Messi remains modest about his chances of being named World Player of the Year after missing out on the accolade in 2008 to Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I don't know if I am the best player in the world. At the moment Cristiano Ronaldo has the title," he added.

"I don't pay too much attention to it. I'm not worried about it. If they give me the award, that's brilliant because you enjoy these prizes. If not, that's absolutely fine too."

I fully expect Messi to stay at Barcelona for the rest of his career.
If not he may look for a move to Argentina.

Messi will not risk moving to the Premier League in the future,
because he knows there is a high chance he will Fail there.
He's better off staying in the La Liga coming up against shit defenders every week.

We'll see tonight if he can handle an EPL defence, last 3 games against one he hasnt done NOTHING!!(us twice, chelsea once)
Umm, us twice? Just cause he didn't get his name on the scoreline doesn't mean he can't handle an EPL defense. I guess Paul Scholes was the only player worth anything on that tie then...

There were numerous occasions he made Evra (who most here regard as the best LB in the world) look silly and at best average.

Granted I don't think he would be near as effective, but to say he did nothing against us, isn't quite being honest...

I dont get how anyone can think messi will struggle here. He would destory teams, especially the lower ones just as ronaldo does with ease at a good club.

I remember people doubting robinho could ever do it here because of his size and stature but the guy is class and doing it as a crappy club. Messi would fit in with ease in the premiership at a good club.

He'll never join the premiership though imo. What was he supposed to say? It was just a 'yes we respect the premiership' sort of interview.

pz!
