According to French newspaper Le Parisien, AC Milan are confident of signing Manchester United left back Patrice Evra on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Evra has established himself into one of the best left backs in Europe since joining the Premiership champions from Monaco in January 2006.
However the Frenchman's contract at Old Trafford runs out next year, and talks over a new deal have not gone well.
Le Parisien says that Milan are ready to offer the 27-year-old a lucrative contract in the next few weeks, with Evra apparently asking for €2.75m per year.
The San Siro giants are not the only Italian club to have been linked with Evra, as Juventus and Inter are also said to be watching the player's situation closely.
Evra spent two seasons in Italy at the beginning of his career, playing for Marsala in 1998/99 and Monza the following campaign, before moving back to his adopted homeland of France to join Nice.
The pacy full back has won nine caps for the French national team, and will travel to Euro 2008.
