Myths i hate. Italiano clubs are better than us because they perform better than us, historically anyway, in Europe.
Their fixture list gives them pleenty of time to rest. Half the time in their league game they're standing around doing nothing/ball watching. Their FA supports the Italian clubs in Europe unlike our antagonistic English FA.
Theeen there's the fact of number of fixtures. Go to skysports and see how many fixtures Milan played this season compared to us. Then look at Real Madrid. Wana know without looking?
Milan: 50
Real Madrid: 61
Manchester United: 84.
Myth Number 2: italian/spanish leagues are better than the EPl. better in what way? EPL =more goals, better defences and a group closer to the top 4 than any other european league. we scored more goal, conceded less and ran more meters on the pitch as compared to other leagues.
Next Myth: Benitez worked wonders at Valencia. DID HE ****. Anybody remember the chap called Hecter Cuper? At a time when Spain was the dominnate league in Europe and Real Madrid had their galatico policy, Hecter came so close to winning the Primera Ligua from a team he built in a space of 4 years. If that's not good enough then how about 2 consecutive Champions League finals against Real madrid and Bayern Munchen?
Bent Benitez put the final touches, i.e. made winners, out of a team who were very nearly there already. Why does no one bring up the times he was sacked from Spanish clubs x 2 for poor results. He went from Spain to italy to improve his defensive tactics.
Couples with the fact Benitez was so not used to playing more than 60 games a season with his team, and you see why Liverpool are good in 10 game KO tournaments over a period of 8months as compared to being 4th in the league. You now see why Benitez is always shyte at starting the English Football Season. To save from Burnout.
So while there can be no question he did a decent job, i think people over galvanise him and his achievements. He's doing well in England because he basically got the best players he knew of in Spain. Not actually developed many players himself. Liverpool play to a standard but don't really strive to improve themselves; they don't know how to under Benitez. He just adds players to imrpove the squad playability, not the players themselves
That's why Benny thinks his team "ish all that, but maybe not enough you know?." Benitez added in a quick striker who's used to struggling and has done well with another team of strugglers with Stevie G and co.
Oh and the biggest myth of all: "Arsenal are a big club"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
