The City coach (ex Lazio coach) Mr Eriksson always said Nesta is as good as they get the central defenders. I never really been a fan of Nesta but he's been a top defender for sure.

A bit off the topic but it just poped into my head something about another World Champion defender, Materatzzi who was on loan at Everton and was just ......rubbish. Now he's a top name defender who even got the famous nod from Zidane. Going from nothing to fame...Im shivering....

Nesta is the best italian defender but he's a little overrated. Canavaro not in nesta's class though.

Cannavaro is better at everything other than heading and that's only cause of his hight, and even then only just, best defender in the world I think.
