been looking around utd forums for a while, decided to join and post my thoughts.

just a few of my concerns about players,

firstly i hate fletcher, not united quality, he may try hard but its not good enough for united, would fletcher be picked in the madrid, milan, barca, chelsea teams? i think not. even as a squad player he doesnt justify a place, hes not going to come on and change a game, no pace, no strength, cant pass, cant defend. bring on hargreaves to hold the midfield and shield the defense, bring on anderson to have bite, work rate and driving runs, scholes/carrick creative passing, even oshea adds height and defensive qualities in the midfield and can cover both full back positions when they overlap.

great players and legends at utd but both giggs and scholes legs have gone, on the ball scholes is still a great player but he cant get up and down the pitch like he used to, where as giggs has tried to adapt his game since losing his pace but hes not as effective as he once was.

wes brown is a top class centre back, but at right back where he has to push on and support the forwards he struggles, defensively hes great but when he has to distribute the ball he is shockingly bad, at centre back he wins headers and tackles and can play short passes into midfield no problem but at right back he cant play balls into forwards feet, cant hit passes down the line for wingers to chase on to and cant cross, hopefully neville will start mostly this season and give da silva his chance there too.

i agree about wes but he showed the other side of his game yday, he just seemed to switch off

if theres one player i'd drive to his next club it would be john o'shea not fletch

Hi everyone. I've been browsing this site for a few weeks now and have decided to join.

I think O'Shea and Fletcher are decent "squad" players, who Fergie can rely upon. There is plenty of quality cover/strength in depth in Utd's defence and midfield (once players return from injury, suspension and the Olympics).

My concern is over the strikers. Although Saha is a quality striker, he is just too injury prone to be relied on, and I think he should be sold. I watched Manucho a few times earlier in the year playing for Angola and he looks pretty good. However, until Utd get a work permit for him, he's out of the equation. Campbell looked ok yesterday. I just think he needs Premiership games under his belt. Hopefully, once he scores his first premiership goal, plenty more will follow.

Berbatov would be a very welcome acquisition. However, would the Glazers pay £25+ million for a 27/28 year old? Whilst Fergie has no problem in spending big, is the £25+ million a tad steep for a player of that age?

I've read on ITV teletext today that Fergie won't be too concerned if he has to go through the current season with this strikeforce. Yet, last week he was saying that there maybe a surprise announcement in the next 2 days.

What is going on?

so would you say plessis, lucas or arbeloa from liverpool would walk straight into our team?
or even denilson, randall or eboue from arsenal?
Cant comment on chelsea cos they're just a bunch of big heads who want money like the old Real Madrid Galacticos....
fletcher is a good player in the middle not on the wing though...

What about Arsenal, young Ramsey has no premier expeirence he was put in the team, only because wenger had to with all the injuries......
We have to play fletcher to because we are down to our bones.
He wont get a sniff when all our players are back.
Its hard to have very good squad players because its hard to keep them happy.
So john o shea and darren fletchern arent very good players but ok to fill in.... thats all we need them for!
Chelsea have the money to pay shev and all the rest squad players STUPID money to keep them happy,

Welcome:)

i think nearly all of the players above are better squad players than o shea and fletcher , and you should comment on chelsea because they are our biggest challengers regardless of money they have the superior squad which is the point i was making:)

Fletcher could get into maybe 15 of the 20 teams starting line ups in the league, he is a very good squad player.

O'Shea I think could get into 4 or 5 starting teams in the Premiership AS A DEFENDER, he could maybe get itno 2 teams in the league at CM.

O'Shea and Fletch were two of the best players on Saturday. The leagues going
to be tough to win but we need players like them to win it!

I'd really like to see a new signing though.

Chelsea have strengthened incrdibly and TBH, played the best football all over
the weekend against a team that knocked us out of the FA Cup and took us to
penalties a week beforehand.

Arsenal look like a threat to cow. Theres no life about them at all.

Liverpool only just scrapped past Keano's men leaving ourselves and Chelsea.
Granted, Newcastle were brilliant IMO. I was at the game an dnumerous people
around me were in praise of them and especially Shay Given. On another day
Campbell would have scored, we would have got a penalty, VDS would have
decided to actually catch the ball.....loads of little things that went against us.

We do lack a striker and its annoying that we still haven't got one in, although
Berbatov seems like he's on the way after he apparently told Spurs that he didn't
want to play for them.

Winning the league this season will be tough but surely we can't start
questioning our ability at this stage! Are Hull City? Do you think their fans are all
over forums claiming that they're going to be in Europe next season? No, and
rightly so, because things will change drastcally between now and May so we
simply ahve to sit back and see how we go over the next 4 or 5 games. If we
aren't in the top 3 after the first 6 games then I'll start worrying because that
would be a situation to worry about.

So roll on Pompey away and hopefully we will actually beat them away unlike the
last two seasons. If we do, theres alreaady a better result from the last two
seasons, and last year, we'll be sort of on the same par as we got 4 points from
the two fixtures and it would be 4 again if we win on Monday.

Heads up...! ;)
