Manchester United linked with new shirt sponsorship deal

Manchester United are set to announce a new multi-million pound shirt sponsorship deal with Saudi Telecom..........

According to reports, the Saudi company are favourites to replace AIG on the club kit from next season.

AIG, who signed a four-year, £56.5 million deal with United back in 2006, have been hit hard by the global credit crunch, and are thought to want to terminate their agreement.

Saudi Telecom already have one foot in the door at Old Trafford having signed a £10m, five-year deal in August to advertise on United's website and around the stadium.

They also send 70 Saudi students each year to train with the club and are thought to be very keen to step into AIG's shoes and display their brand on the United shirt.

Meanwhile, a report in the Sun suggests United and Manchester City will both have to play at home on the same night next month.

For security reasons, Manchester police prefer the clubs not to play in the city at the same time.

However, United's Carling Cup quarter-final against Blackburn has been put back 24 hours to Wednesday, Dec 3, which happens to be the same night that Mark Hughes' men host Paris St Germain in the Uefa Cup.
