Park Ji-Sung has set his sights on a return to action with Manchester United at the start of 2008.

The South Korea midfielder underwent knee surgery in America in the summer and has been happy with his progress since the operation.

He told the club's official website: "Hopefully I'll be playing again early in the New Year.

"My knee is getting better and it's a case of so far, so good."

And the 26-year-old is confident that Sir Alex Ferguson's summer signings will help the Red Devils in their quest to retain the Premier League title.

He said: "We've got a good squad and the manager has brought some good players into the team to improve it even further.

"The new signings have all impressed me in different ways.

"Nani is very quick, Owen (Hargreaves) works hard and Carlos (Tevez) has great vision. Anderson hasn't played much, but I am looking forward to seeing more of him."

"I'm confident that we can retain the Premier League title this season,"

Meanwhile, young full-back Danny Simpson has revealed his delight at signing a new three-year deal with United.

He told MUTV: "When the gaffer called me in to talk about a new deal I was buzzing, especially when he said about me signing for another three years.

"I couldn't ask for anything more."

And Simpson hopes to be back in full training at the end of next week as he continues his rehabilitation following hernia surgery.

He added: "Hopefully in ten days' time I'll be back training with the team. I'm just focusing on getting myself fit and building up my strength.

"I want to keep training well with the first team and hopefully I'll be involved in a few of the upcoming games."

Good to hear he's on the mend. His workrate has always impressed me and he was scoring a few goals for us last season. Hopefully he'll be back playing for us in January.
