The Hammers Midweek Visit To The "Theatre of Dreams!"
Notes
- United go into this game with most players returning from injury. However,
Paul Scholes (Knee) remains sidelined - West Ham are without 4 men including, Ashton (Os Trigonum Syndrome),
Gabbidon (Pelvis Injury), Spector (Thigh Injury), Dyer (Broken Leg) - Wayne Rooney is 1 goal away from his 100th League goal (Everton &
Manchester United) - West Ham last beat United at Old Trafford 2 seasons ago when Tevez scored
the winner.
Form
Manchester United have gone a good run of late in all competitions yet only
managed a draw away to Everton after a lacklustre display last Saturday. United
have however managed a goal in every league game so far this season and
remain unbeaten at Old Trafford in the League since bitter rivals Man City won 2-1
on February 10th 2008
West Ham United aren't in a great run of form so far this season and have
failed to keep a clean sheet in any competition thus far. In 4 away league games
so far this season, the Hammers have only scored 4 goals and the only win came
at Fulham.
Previous Results
At Old Trafford ('07/'08) - Manchester United 4-1 West Ham United
At Upton Park ('07/'08) - West Ham United 2-1 Manchester United
Key Players
Manchester United - Ryan Giggs is showing that if you have it, you never loose it
these days. Its appeared that the Welshman has been given a new role at United
in the center of the park and he's beginning to show some of his magical best
since moving from the left wing. Giggs has been a part of many United attacks
and goals this season making crucial passes from the middle of the field. He also
holds the acclaim of being the only man to score in every Premier League campaign
since its start-up, and he'll be looking to continue his rich tradition.
West Ham United - Matthew Upson is the leader at the back now after the
departure of Ferdinand. The Englishman has played every minute of the season
so far for the Hammers and if it weren't for him, West Ham could see a few more
goals in the conceded column. He'll have to be on top form to deal with United's
attacking abilities at Old Trafford.
