He had a decent game at best and think some of the members here are givein him way too much credit.
He is suuposed to be helping out the defence, but put them under pressure yesterday with wayward passing and his non-existent awarenes..
On several occasion when he received the ball, he could have turned one way and avoided trouble, but instead turned the other way and straight into two or three Arsenal players.
He played better in the second half, but was mostly chasing a ball he had just lost.... so if you're praising him for effort, you're probably giving him credit for making up for his own mistakes.
Come on people. Get real and watch properly.
I can't believe all the big game player rubbish.
He had an average performance that was no better than a 6.
You have a point rfr he did give the ball away cheaply at times , but won it back on more occasions.
His energy and passion were superb , like i said i am not one of his greatest fans but he was man of the match.
He is not the most gifted player in the team and will never be like rooney and ronaldo but he played to his strengths last night.
I also do not subscribe to this hes a big game player . he is often a let down in some games but one thing the lad gives an honest 110% and we cannot ask for more than that
Sorry m8 your wrong on this one im no big fan of Darren but last night he played very well he got stuck in and hurried the Arse midfield into making mistakes , first half he kept popping up on the right allowing Ronnie to get into the box and he put some good crossess in , yeah he tired a bit second half but he had by his own standards a very good game m8 , and yeah m8 i was watching
Agree, again not the biggest fan of Fletcher but last night he was good at what we needed to do to prevent the Arse. He hurried and pressured at every oppurtunity, I like players who will go to the ball and get it and put in effort throughout, Fletcher MOTM for sure.

I agree with you but he did more then ever. To be honest I tought that he is going to be hole in midfiled and he did better job then Anderson. His effort was why he was highly rated.
I think like Richie that Vida was one of our best players in the game so he got mine MOTM. He lost only one duel in whole game, it was at the end of the first half.
There is only one thing that anoyed me during whole game, Ronaldo. In some moments he was excellent but thing that I couldn`t understand is when he lose duel he just sit on the ground and he is not geting back to help diffence. When Rooney lose ball he tries to get it back no metter what. I think that Ronaldo should stop talking. I know that many of you out there disagree with my tought but it really annoys me to see that you guys give the same marks to Ronaldo and let`s say Rio, Vida, O`Shay, or Rooney.
Sorry but your criticism on this occasion is way off. I'd have given him MOTM but for Rooney who was absolutely wonderful. Fletcher pluses far outweighed his minuses. How we weren't 3-0 up at half time is one of lifes great mysteries. Anderson faded after the first half, Fletcher kept at it right til the final whistle. The guy who called him a championship player is from another planet - PLuto!!.
whoa.... thost were quite balanced and meassured responses to my little rant.
OK...it seems we ARE actually more or less seeing the same thing, just rating it differently.
Fletcher probably played very well by his standards, but still not on par as other central midfielders.
I hear some tlak about Anderson maybe not having the best performance, but he didn't lose the ball as often as Fletch and offered more directness going forwards.
OK....he also had a barely decent game, but still made less mistakes. I cannot remember a single attacking chance from an Anderson mistake, but there were a few that resulted of a Fletcher boo-boo.
Even if you consider the positive things that Fletcher added to our game, I still think people are over-reacting giving him MOTM.
Rooney was our best player AND always came back to help Pat with Walcott. Brilliant player and a good performance. it wasn't mind-blowing stuff from Wayne and he was too predictable cutting in all the time from the left, but still was responsible for most of our best moments.

Fletcher's plusses did barely made up for his minuses and no one here can convince me that a fit Hargreaves or younger Paul Scholes would not be doing a far better job than he was.
I'm very, very surprised at the Darren Fletcher love fest. A player so ordinary can get so much praise for being average.
When Mchael Carrick has a decent game, he gets slatd, but Miachel's decent is Fletcher's very good.
Some with Ronaldo and Wayne...... their worst performances are probably Darren's best efforts and yet we're singing his praises.
For me every single player of us out won the one on one work they had to make against Arse`s lads, and this is completely unbiased. They should not be given less than 6 in my opinion. MOTM for me, Wayne Rooney - 8. He's on fire that lad.
Darren put a lot of effort last night and was generaly good, but I remember 3 or 4 occasions in which he lost the ball in our half of the pitch, and dangerous Arsenal counters followed... That really frustrated me, otherwise he was class..
VDS - 7 Didn't have much if anything to do
O'Shea - 8 Solid and good goal
Ferdinand - 8 Solid until taken off injured, poor rio
Vidic - 8 Solid as ever
Evra - 7 Good made a few mistakes but getting back to the evra of last season and earlier this season
Ronaldo - 7 Good going forward didn't offer more than the other midfielders
Anderson - 7 A few great runs but his shooting is still questionable
Fletcher - 8 Solid in the centre, great tackling
Carrick - 6 Went missing abit, please Hargreaves please come back soon
Rooney - 8 Great on the left even though i think he's wasted there but i understand he had to be there to help out evra with walcott
Tevez - 8 Does what he always does works for the team but he should have scored when he had two chances
Overall team rating 7.5 good enough but need to improve and create more chances in the second leg!
