Most of United's players are internationals and we dont always hear how they
have perfomed for their country. So this thread is to comment/discuss a players
performance whilst on international duty.

Relevant games:

World Cup qualifiers
England 5-1 Kazakhstan
Scotland 0-0 Norway
Sweden 0-0 Portugal
Romania 2-2 France
Slovenia 2-0 Northern Ireland
Argentina 2-1 Uruguay
Angola v Niger
International friendlies
South Korea 3-1 Uzbekistan

Rooney- 2 goals, great game.
Rio- scored the opening goal, solid at back.
Brown- Nice assist for Rooney's goal. Did well.

Fletcher captained his country in a 0-0 draw with Norway. Played well.

Carlos Tevez played 90 minutes against Uruguay in a fiesty 2-1 victory. Although he didn't find the net,
Tevez looked sharp and played a major role in the home side's win.

Ji-sung Park captained South Korea to a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan in a friendly
ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against United Arab Emirates.

Patrice Evra and France headed to Romania in search of victory, but Les Bleus will
be pleased enough with a point after going 2-0 down after 17 minutes.

Fellow United defender Nemanja Vidic was involved as Serbia cruised to a 3-0
victory over Lithuania in Belgrade, but Jonny Evans was powerless to stop
Slovenia snatching a late 2-0 win against Northern Ireland.

Let us know how United's players got on, if you saw them in an international game.

Nani and Ronaldo in a qualifying game vs Sweden.

Ronaldo were marked closely by a solid defence and were not able to deal with it thoughout the whole game. He and Nani tried to swap wings but it was no improvement. He looked he wished he were somewhere else then right there at the RÃ¥sunda pitch.
Nani had a very very quiet evening.

Rooney was brilliant second half when he was allowed to play in his natural role behind Heskey who was leading the line, ran the show and scored twice, time Capello drops Fat Frank and allows for Rooney and Gerrard to run the show from a central position!

Carlos Tevez was very decent with Argentina

if he don't push more and try to score goals his position would be in danger from Aguero

also Carlos should play more like his fellow Argentinian teammates more than his fellow United teammates when playing for his country, which is by going more deep forward and to defend less as most of his teammates do, cuz he seems to be the only one in his team who plays a passionate free play football

Evans was it fault for Slovenia and should have scored
Evans did have a very good game to be fair, but yes, he made a mistake for teh second goal.....The game was over by then anyway (which isnt really an excuse) but at least he wasnt the cause for Norn Iron losing.
He did do well though to be fair to the lad. He will be an integral part of their team
for years to come, and caotain as well I reckon.

He is suspended for the next game cos of another yellow card....

Portugal - Albania 0-0
I didnt watch the Portugal game but reading the match report they had their chances to win but couldnt score. Not sure how Ronnie or Nani played but the report say Hugo Almeida had two-three great chances to score.
Maybe someone else have seen this game. Good result for me though.:) But a loss and a draw for Carlos on home soil...

Interesting to note that we had a few captains on display in Rio, Berba, Ronnie and Park.

Park scored a goal and played well as seen above.

OShea was solid enough for Ireland and kept a clean sheet but Gibson wasnt great.

Vds kept a clean sheet as the Dutch won.

Vidic's Serbia won 3-1.

Ronaldo had a bad night as did Nani. They drew at home to Albania.

Evra and Anderson were unused subs.

Rooney was world class, nuff said.

Wes & Rio were solid by all accounts.

didn't Van Der Sar retire after the euros
He was called back in to help cos of a goalkeeping crisis...whatever that means.
I guess there are injuries and they asked him if he wanted to play.
I guess he did.....Its his 2nd or 3rd game back.
He might bow out at the 2010 World Cup if he makes it that far.

Internationals: Ron spot-on

Cristiano Ronaldo's second-half penalty gave Portugal a 1-0 friendly win over Finland on Wednesday.

Carlos Queiroz's men spurned a hatful of chances before Ronaldo converted the winner with 10 minutes left after Sami Hyypia fouled substitute striker Danny.

John O'Shea played the full 90 minutes of the Republic of Ireland's come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Georgia in a World Cup qualifier at Croke Park, with Darron Gibson an unused substitute.

A late header from Ji-sung Park rescued a 1-1 draw for South Korea in their World Cup qualifier in Iran, while substitute Carlos Tevez claimed a late assist in Argentina's 2-0 friendly win over France in Marseille.

Michael Carrick impressed but was unable to prevent England going down 2-0 to European champions Spain. Rio Ferdinand sat on the bench in Seville, while David Beckham equalled Bobby Moore's record of 108 England caps.

United's Serbian duo Nemanja Vidic and Zoran Tosic were involved in a four-team friendly tournament in Cyprus this week. Serbia won their semi-final against the hosts 2-0 on Tuesday, before losing Wednesday's final 1-0 to Ukraine{F9E570E6-407E-44BC-800F-4A3110258114}&newsid=6626921
