Why you all going with Macari?:whistling:

Buchan was a much greater influence on the team than Luigi was.
Because in all honesty my knowledge if that decade isn't great and Macari's the one if seen do alot of great stuff.

Fair enough. Read up on Buchan though. He was one of the classiest defenders ever and he did a lot for United.

Buchan was indeed one of the most underated players ever , he should have got many more caps than he did , back in the day the song for him was "fonz is cool buchan is cooler" a great captain:)

Considering I was born in the 80s I'd be an idiot
if I were to talk about players from the 60s and 70s.
i know a lot about the two world wars the titanic disaster etc etc etc ---its called education and research . scott was bang on by saying not a lot of footage from 50s and before . i was in nappies in the sixties yet know charlton best law et al were great players .

For what its worth, Paddy Crerrarnd has sad that one time he asked Sir Matt who was his greatest ever player. His answer? Dennis Law.

Research will tell you facts, like teamsheets and results
but if I asked you whether Thomas Andrewson was a better
soldier than Michele Di Romildo you wouldn't know how to
answer, as you weren't there.

He said you can learn about players of the 60s through books
and talking to people, so via a 3rd person. That is not
enough to allow you to judge people from the 60s.

If I went to Denis Law and said "Best was better than you", he'd
be well within his right to turn round and say "well how the ****
do you know?".

Nice list Stee. Pretty similar to mine. No Keane though???
Good shout on Whiteside.
Id like to add Paul McGrath to the equation  for the 80's decade.
(I know his career was cut short etc... and he was a messer, but damn was he good)

And Irish

I think Keane was amazing, but I had to fit in Scholes and Giggs.

Actually Scholes instead of Ruud, and Keano in there
