·Please take a few minutes to read the following, I am in the Army and work in welfare. My Regiment is currently serving in Afghanistan, and I received the following message on Saturday morning on the way to Wembley.
On Friday 25 May a vehicle that was protecting a combat logistic patrol in Helmand Province of Afghanistan was involved in an explosive incident. The commander of the vehicle, Corporal ‘Shaggy' Selvey, suffered a fracture to his lower right leg and the driver, Private David Poole, suffered a fracture to his lower left leg.
Corporal Selvey and Private Poole were moved by helicopter from the scene of the incident to the field hospital at Camp Bastion. I am delighted to report that all three soldiers are doing well and remain very positive – they are a credit to the Regiment and we are all tremendously proud of them.
Corporal Selvey and Private Poole returned to the UK on Sunday morning where they are being assessed at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) Birmingham.
Corporal Selvey is from Taunton and is a dedicated Bristol City Fan. He is expected to remain in hospital for at least the next ten days or so.
Private Poole is from ulster and a dedictaed Manchester United Fan, he is expected to remain in hospital a bit longer than Corporal Selvey.
I will be visiting Private Poole and Corporal Selvey this week, if any of you would like to send a message of good luck please leave it here, I will print them off and pass them onto him.
Thank you for taking time to read this, and your nice words are very appriciated.
