First thing off, thank you for participating. Should be a good laugh and hopefully be enjoyable for us all.

I'm going to say this now, Don't post anything other than your picks in this thread. The other thread will be used for discussion. This is only for picks.

I'll remind you of the rules. Please read these carefully.

- You can only take players who participated in at least 40
- The player is assessed on the basis of how good he was during his period in the premiership only. Therefore, if you selected Edgar Davids or Youri Djorkaeff for example - you would be getting the Spurs and Bolton versions respectively - not the guys who destroyed European football at Juve and Inter during their primes; premiership games during their career (this means that one season wonders are excluded from consideration - a player will need to be on a squad for more than one season);

- Selection order will go backwards after ever round. So for example, in Round 1 you're picking number 1, you'll be last to choose in round 2. Whereas number 20 will pick last in round 1 but first in round 2. this will be rotated throughout the game for the entire 11 rounds.

- Clock expires on a drafter after 24 hrs(except for the first player at the end of each round. He will be given a 48 hour period to choose again to allow for adequate time for preperation. After that time, the next player on the list will be allowed to go and it will up to the skipped player to post a pick in the draft thread at their earliest convenience. Though if someone has picked your choice while you've been away even though you were first to pick on teh draft list. Tough i'm afraid make a different choice.

- When someone has completed a pick, they should pm the next in line to inform them that it is their turn. Please abide by this as it will allow the game to run as smoothly as possible.

- People are obliged to go to google images and put up a photo of the player they are selecting and provide some sort of spiel as to why they are drafting them at that time. Please do this. It will make it more visible and cleaner throughout the thread and allow those picking to see exactly who has been chosen.

- After each participant has selected eleven players they are obliged to put one more post in the draft thread which provides a final formation and discusses the tactics that would be ideally employed in an imaginary game. This will be where BGS will be reviewing everyones team. So try to do the best you can.

-It is best not to mention undrafted players. So, if Roy Keane is selected with the first pick - try not to say "Vieira is much better in my opinion". Now, obviously one would assume that everyone up for participating in this kind of thing would be aware of how similar the two players are - but as things move beyond the obvious choices people who are less willing to put in research or don't know as much about the game as a whole shouldn't be let off the hook by others mentioning the best players available in the later rounds.

The following players are not allowed to be picked, as a member who did pick them previously has dropped out.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Total appearances: 219
Goals Scored: 150

The stats speaks it all. With a goal ratio of almost 0.7 (0.684), this man is a scoring machine and one of the greatest striker ever to grace the Premier League.

Roy Keane

Argueably Manchester United's greatest ever captain, and the Rep. of Ireland's
greatest ever player, Roy Keane simply is a must for my team. His leadership
qualities are up with the best of them, and that aside, look at his footballing career
style. Simple, skilled, effective, strong. No show boating and dilly-dallying, just got
the job done in the center of the park be it slipping a ball out wide for an on-rushing
winger, playing the killer through ball for the attackers, keeping it simple and
knocking it back to the defenders, or of course stopping opposition attacks with the
crucial sliding tackles. Not to mention the odd goal to the Irishman's name!

So my first pick is Roy Keane :D

Alan Shearer

Right, I always prefered to stat off with a United player but this time i'll be different. I really, really dislike the guy but there is no doubt he was a fantastic player. Having scored 374 in 725 games he was a brilliant striker. Good in the air, the ground and a fantastic poacher. He's the all time Premiership top goal-scorer to boot. He should have joined United. My first pick is Alan Shearer.

Eric Cantona

Reason: He is the KING! His style of play can not be matched and his movement with the ball is unbelievable and no one could get it off him. His fighting spirit is what any manager dreams off and his bad boy image on the pitch is what i want to start of my team. He is a player where you build your team around and his goal scoring record was fantastic for a midfielder and he can also set up other players. he was the leader of the team and he is the greatest player for united that has braced the number 7 shirt. (I think) :)

Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry, the most gifted player to ever grace the Premiership.
Controversial first pick but he was just sensational.
Played for Arsenal from 1999-2007, scoring 226 goals in 380 apps.(a record)
He has won pretty much everything as a player, scoring the most amazing
goals you could see. If only he played for United. The guy oozed class.

He was runner-up for the 2003 and 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year award;
in those two seasons, he also won back-to-back PFA Players' Player of the Year titles.
Henry is the only player ever to have won the Football Writers' Association
Footballer of the Year three times (2003, 2004, 2006)

My first pick is: Ryan Giggs

I suppose no one would even ask why and I don't blame them, not only a legend to United fans but also to football. Over 500 appearances and over a 100 goals, all for the same club, would fit into the best of teams. Has won numerous trophies and medals for Unitedd and also some individual accolades. One other thing about him is that he has featured in the PFA team of the year on 7 occasions! In his day, for me he was the best left winger about, and although he may be ageing now he still has that magic touch :D

As expected, my first choice is United legend Paul Scholes. The greatest player I have ever watched live, and is always in control of the game with his pinpoint, perfect passing. His shooting and finishing is one of the best I've ever seen, and his tackling isn't as bad as people make out (ahem).

World superstars like Bobby Charlton, Zidane and Seedorf, refer to Scholesy as the greatest and hardest opponent they have ever faced.

A dying breed of footballer, an honest hard-working individual, putting his family first behind everything.

I wish he wouldn't ever retire.

Cristiano Ronaldo

My first pick is : Cristiano Ronaldo

He is probably the most sensational player I have ever seen in my 17 years of life. He has that ability to make 70,000 + fans at OT stand up every time he goes off on one of his mazy runs...

Some people (including UTD fans here) constantly try to diminish the importance the boy holds for our side. Maybe his attitude during the long real saga during the summer is partly to blame. However, he is still our leading scorer this season with 14 goals.

Also the figure 42.... Any player who scores that many goals in one season has to be considered an all time great imo... Regardless of his giant ego that we all know he possesses.

Greatest ever Premiership player

He has to be considered one of them in my opinion. If I had a choice it would be between either him or Henry. What other premiership player has won the Ballon D'Or ???? What other player has won the PFA player of the season 2 years in a row besides Henry ? And he is also supposedly having a bad season but is still the second leading scorer in the PREM.

So without a doubt I believe Cristiano to be the best Premiership player EVER...

Gianfranco Zola

Gianfranco Zola

brilliant export and a player who on his day was on of the best! Sometimes the goals he scored were like poetry in motion. One of the things i respected about him was the raw passion he had for the game.Quality player. That is why Zola is my first pick.

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard

It might be an unpopular choice around these parts, but there's no doubting the man's
ability with a football. The number of times he has managed to drag his team over the
finish line and almost single handedly win trophies is amazing. His leadership abilities are
second to none, his long range shooting ability is one of the best in the Premiership and
his all round play make him one of the best midfielders of his generation.

Edwin Van Der Sar

Well what can ya say about Van Der Sar he holds the record for not letting any goals in. He has so many trophies in his career not just with United he has won them for Ajax, Juventus. He also had a brief spell with Fulham before moving on to United were he has won 2 premiership medals, 1 Carling Cup, World Club medal, and a Champions league with United.

Standing at 6' 4'' Schmeichel is quite simply the greatest goalkeeper in premiership history, who could also pop in an odd goal 11 in his career for club and country

His mere presence in the penalty area intimidated many an opposing striker. Schmeichel is simply the best goalkeeper of all time, better than Yashin, Banks, Zoff, Jennings or any other legend you care to name.

My first round draft pick is Matthew Le Tissier.

Never having played for a "large" club, he often doesn't get the recognition he deserves, yet his loyalty is unquestionable, as is his tremendous skill. Able to score any type of goal, a chip, volley, finesse shot, or long range blast, his goal scoring ability has made him recognized as Southampton's best ever player.

Patrick Vieira-

I will let Arsene do most of the talking for me. All I really need to say is...What a machine. Dominated the Arsenal midfield as captain for many years and was a fantastic tough tackler. Played the holding midfield role magnificently with the odd goal to boot. Amazed I snapped him up at such a late pick tbh. He would be in my top five let alone ten, but 16! Quality:D

Wayne Rooney

He moved to united for a british record transfer fee for a under 21 player at the time and has been known as 'white pele' in some regions.

A fighter/street footballer who now dons his stuff at the theatre of dreams and is easily the most techincal player england have on their staff at the moment.

Scary thing is he still has huge room for improvement but the guy runs non stop, creates as many chances as he scores and puts in a fulltime shift everytime he is on the pitch.
