We all know by now that Alex Mcleish got the Birmingham City job and Paul Jewell Got the Derby County job, but what do we all think of their chances i mean Jewell did great at Wigan last season keeping them up on the last day and Mcleish was great for Scotland and was unlucky not to get to Euro 2008 but i dont realy think either of them are going to do well in the Premiership this time i think Mcleish will keep Birmingham up but it will be a struggle, but Derby are going down i dont think Jewell can keep them up not even at this stage of season

whats everyone elses thoughts??

If Paul Jewell keeps Derby County in the Premier League this season I am changing my username to "Paul Jewell's a God".......:D

Steve Bruce should be able to keep Wigan up but it will be a strrugle.......they will be there or thereabouts the relegation zone most of the season imho.....

McLeish......He deserves his chance in the premiership and I wish him all the best at Birmingham but I just can't see them surviving a whole season in the League....

The problem for the promoted teams this season, in my humble opinion, is that the teams just outside the big four have all improved immensely......
The likes of Everton, Portsmouth, Blackburn, Man City, Aston Villa....and Spurs and Bolton have all improved significantly with new signings, and better ones than in years gone by, which makes it much harder for promoted teams with far less spending money and quality, to compete.........

Sunderland for me are the only promoted team who have any chance of staying up......and to be honest that's pretty sad.........the others just don't have the resources to compete at this level....

As Bertie said......

To make the move from The Championship to The Premier League is now almost impossible

The gap between these 2 is growing bigger and bigger......

And will never shrink.......

So now we will always have the same 4 or 5 clubs coming up - then going down.....

They will need 2 or 3 seasons in the big time to raise the kind of cash they require to stay comfortably in the Prem League - but doig this is virtually impossible :(

Wigan, West Ham, Reading and Portsmouth have all shown it's possible to stay in the Prem but it has been a struggle for all of them at times.

The difference with Derby is that they were not even close to being ready for the Prem. They didn't have the players, manager or cash to have any real chance.

Now they have the manager but are still without the players and cash so I can't see anything but relegation for Derby.

I think Brum would have stayed up under Bruce and think the same with McLeish in charge.
