Carlos Queiroz has selected a 22-man squad for the friendly match against the Faroe Islands.
The former Manchester United assistant manager will make his managerial debut for Portugal against the Faroe Islands next Wednesday, the 20th of August.
Queiroz's first call-up list includes several surprises and has not gone without controversy. Goalkeeper Ricardo, who had been Portugal's first-choice keeper since the arrival of Luiz Felipe Scolari, has been left out of the coach's list, just like Sporting's keeper, Rui PatrÃcio.
Porto star Ricardo Quaresma, who has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, and Petit, who recently left Benfica to join FC Köln, have also not been included in Queiroz's plans for this friendly game.
Atlético de Madrid midfielder Maniche, who had been left out of Scolari's plans for Euro 2008, does not figure in the list for this match either.
Dynamo Moscow's Danny and Sporting de Braga custodian Eduardo are the two players that will have the chance to earn their first cap for the Portugal main squad.
Squad:
Goalkeepers: Quim (Benfica), Eduardo (Sp. Braga), Daniel Fernandes (Bochum);
Defenders: Bosingwa (Chelsea), Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea), Bruno Alves (FC Porto), Fernando Meira (Galatasaray), Pepe (Real Madrid), Antunes (Lecce), Miguel (Valência);
Midfielders: Deco (Chelsea), Raúl Meireles (FC Porto), Duda (Malaga), Carlos Martins (Benfica), João Moutinho (Sporting), Manuel Fernandes (Valência), Simão Sabrosa (Atlético Madrid), Nani (Manchester United), Danny (Dynamo Moscow);
Forwards: Nuno Gomes (Benfica), Hugo Almeida (Werder Bremen).
