The stage of denial kicked in or do I sense correctly a tinge of resignation?. Lol.

If he could turn back the time, I am pretty sure he will NOT shoot off his mouth like he did again. Since then we all know what happened to Liverpool. Love it.

Rafa: I'm not losing mind games battle

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez insists he is not losing the plot in the Premier League title race despite his latest bizarre outburst.

In fact, the Spaniard does not believe he is involved in any sort of mind games with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, he did suggest the Manchester United boss's sheer longevity at the top of the game gave him and his team an advantage.

The concession of another late goal at Wigan last night saw the one-timel leaders slip to third in the table, two points behind United having played one match more.

A seventh draw in 10 league matches has severely affected their momentum and confidence.

However, Benitez - who labelled last night's second half 'crazy' but refused to explain why - insists he is philosophical in the face of the challenge posed by United.

'I am okay. You cannot change, you need to understand it has to be like this for years,' he said.

'I don't have any psychological battle with Sir Alex. He has been here for 22 years and you can see what it means.'

Last night's match did little to assure striker Robbie Keane of his future at the club.

The Republic of Ireland striker was named on the bench having been dropped for Sunday's Merseyside derby FA Cup tie but he played only the last six minutes.

Prior to that he had to watch Ryan Babel, who had been playing on the left wing, promoted to centre-forward after Fernando Torres was substituted.

Despite speculation about the former Tottenham striker's future Benitez said he did not expect the player to be leaving Anfield.

'I think so,' he replied to a question about whether Keane would be staying, going on to explain the reasons behind leaving it so late to put the Irishman on.

'We had another striker with pace like Babel. It was my decision before the penalty (for Mido's equaliser) but after the penalty it was the same idea to try to use a player between the lines with good movement.

'We have to improve if we want to win these games, especially when you have the control we had in the first half.'
