Liverpool have completed the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Anfield after Liverpool agreed an undisclosed fee with Palmeiras for the custodian.

Cavalieri will provide cover for first-choice keeper Jose Reina and his arrival at Anfield will cast further doubt over the future of Scott Carson.

The South American insists he is up for the to fight to challenge Reina for a place in Rafa Benitez's starting XI next season

"I know it won't be easy to get into the team," Cavalieri told the club's official website.
Patient

"I watched some Liverpool games in both the Premier League and Champions League last year and I know Pepe is a very good goalkeeper. But everyone has to fight for their place and I'm sure we will have a healthy rivalry.

"I know I will have to be patient and work very hard to achieve my aims - but it is always like that when you come from another country.

"You have to adapt inside and outside of the pitch and get used to the way things work. But with hard work you get there.

"My confidence has got me where I am today and maybe people are aware of what I did at Palmeiras in Brazil. I am sure that one day I can get the No.1 position but that will only come with hard work."

Reina is useless quite frankly. He made loads of errors last season in all competitions. The only reason he stopped so many shots against United and Chelsea was because the ball hit him in the chest or legs most of the time from poor finishing. Amazingly, he keeps winning the Golden Gloves because Liverpool draw half their games 0-0 or win the occasional game 1-0.

I don't know much about Diego Cavalieri but at 25 he should at least be better than Reina.
