Four of the best teams on the planet – including world champions Manchester United – will take part in the Audi Cup in Germany this summer.

The two-day competition, held at Munich’s Allianz Arena, will feature United, Boca Juniors, AC Milan and Bayern Munich.

The Reds will meet Boca – Carlos Tevez’s former club and 23-times champions of Argentina – on Wednesday 29 July, with Milan and Bayern also competing on the same day. The winners of each game will play each other on Thursday 30 July in the final, which will be preceded by a third-place playoff featuring Wednesday’s losing sides.

At the tournament launch in Munich, attended by representatives from each side (including United defender Wes Brown), Audi chairman Rupert Stadler described the event as “a sporting highlight on the brand’s 100th anniversary”.

“We are proud that we have been able to attract these teams to Munich,” Stadler said.

Meanwhile, former Boca Juniors legend and current managing director Carlos Bianchi said the Argentinians were looking forward to pitting their wits against some of Europe’s finest footballers.

“It is both an honour and a big challenge for our team to compete against these sides,” he said.

Tickets for the Audi Cup are on sale now from Bayern Munich’s official website,{F9E570E6-407E-44BC-800F-4A3110258114}&newsid=6629466

UNITED will play a high profile pre-season friendly against Argentine side Boca Juniors.

The clubs will meet in a mini-tournament at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena in July.

The winner will then play either the hosts or Italian giants AC Milan in a second game.

United will kick off against Boca on Wednesday, July 29 and it is a date that Carlos Tevez will have already ringed in his diary.

The South American striker is a huge fan of Boca Juniors and plans to end his playing days at the Buenos Aires club when he has finished in Europe.

Argentina boss and legend Diego Maradona is also a former player and lifelong supporter.

Bayern Munich will contest the other match with Milan on the same day.

United will then feature in either a third and fourth place play-off game or the final on July 30.

It's unlikely United will come face-to-face against David Beckham, however, if they do get paired with Milan.

Though the former Red has signed a timeshare agreement with Milan and his American club LA Galaxy until the end of the season, he will be back playing in the US the week before the Munich tournament begins.

United will play in Germany after returning from a four-match tour in Asia between July 16 and 26 when they have matches in China, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia.
