Thats around £20m too much, i have no doubt he is worth £40m, perhaps even £45m, but £62 is just too much, Mata, Ashley Young and even David Villa would be much more affordable...

United €70m Bid

Manchester United have reportedly offered €70m - which converts to almost £63m - for Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery.

According to The Guardian, 'Sources in Munich confirmed the bid has been received for the France international, who has made his desire to leave Germany known in the past few weeks. Although

Bayern are understood to have turned down United's offer, it is considered the first serious move in a negotiation that will eventually bring the winger to Old Trafford.'

However, the newspaper's report also claims that any deal 'is contingent on the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Madrid this summer but the approach to Bayern has been firm enough to suggest that the Portuguese's departure is a near certainty.' That belief will be treated with considerable skepticism, however, with United repeatedly insisting in recent months that Ronaldo will not be sold to Madrid and the player himself announcing on Saturday that his "Madrid dream" is "now dead".

Were United to offload the wretched Nani and opt against retaining Carlos Tevez then there would be space in United's squad in which Ribery could be accommodated. It remains questionable, though, whether the debt-laden United have the finances to launch such a massive bid without significant sales first taking place. As well as headlining Ribery's fee at £62.5m, the Guardian also notes that, due to sterling's decline, United would have to offer the Frenchman the equivalent of £145,000 a week to match his current deal at Bayern Munich. If so, the player would become the most expensive in British history both in terms of transfer fee and wages.

Bayern - Ribery not for sale
Bayern also hoping to name new coach soon

Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness insists Franck Ribery is not for sale, even at €70million.

Reports earlier this week claimed Manchester United were lining up a €70million [£62million] bid for the French schemer.

United quickly rejected the speculation that they were preparing a mega big and now Bayern claim €70million would not be enough for them to cash-in on the classy attacker.

"For €70 million, we will not let Franck Ribery leave," Hoeness told Kicker.

The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the former Marseille man, but Hoeness insists they have not fielded any enquires.

"We have yet to receive concrete enquiries from any club regarding Franck Ribery," added Hoeness.

"We have not heard anything on this from the clubs he is linked with."

Manager hunt

Meanwhile, Hoeness believes the club will make a decision on who their new manager will be next week.

AZ Alkmaar coach Louis van Gaal is the favourite for the role to succeed Jurgen Klinsmann, but Hoeness has cast doubt on a move for the Dutchman by revealing they do not plan to pay any compensation for a new coach.

"I think there will be a decision coming at the start or in the course of next week," noted Hoeness.

"We have decided we do not want to pay compensation for anyone to become our new manager."

Bayern's Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel has backed any move for van Gaal, believing his compatriot would be a success at the German giants.

"Louis van Gaal is a very good manager, he would go well with Bayern Munich," said van Bommel.

Patrice Evra Wants Franck Ribery At Manchester United - Goal.com

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has revealed that he would be thrilled to see his international team-mate Franck Ribery alongside him at Old Trafford next season.

The Bayern Munich wing man, highly-rated throughout Europe, is believed to be a target for a number of clubs, including Catalan giants Barcelona, after expressing disappiontment with the way the season in Bavaria had turned out. The indications were that he would be on his way to Barca after he was seen spending time being consoled by Blaugrana players in the wake of the German outfit's heavy defeat in the Champions League to the Primera Division club.

However, United have emerged as contenders for the vibrant attacker's signature, after rumours appeared in various media outlets claiming that he was a summer target for Alex Ferguson.

Evra would be delighted to see him in Manchester, telling ESPN, "Franck has everything required to impose himself at Manchester.

"I have no idea about the advancement of the discussions, or even if they exist, but seeing him here would be a real pleasure.

"He is made for this club."

I didn't like it last year when every day there were quotes from madrid players saying Ronaldo should come to Madrid. Hope we don't do the same this year on Bayern. Kind of Hypocritical

Ribery's a no-go to United

United set to miss out on Ribery

Zinedine Zidane has persuaded Franck Ribery to join Real Madrid - dashing Manchester United's hopes of signing the Frenchman should Cristiano Ronaldo leave in the summer. Zidane, who became the world's most expensive player when he moved to the Bernabeu for £48million in 2001, is reportedly ready to return to the club as a member of the board. The former World Player of the Year is close friends with Ribery. The agent Alain Migliaccio, who brokered Zidane's move to Spain, represents the Bayern Munich ace.

United winger Ronaldo continues to be linked with a move to Madrid and Ribery was seen as an ideal replacement.

Reports suggest the Bayern star is the subject of a £60million enquiry from the Premier League champions, but sources in Spain say Zidane has told him to sign for Real.

Zidane will return to Real Madrid as a member of the board if former president Florentino Perez is successful in regaining his post in next month's elections.

Perez, who was Real Madrid president from 2000 to 2006, is expected to officially announce that he will stand for president this (THURS) morning, at the Ritz hotel in Madrid.

another speculation that hopefully isn't true

Germany legend Lothar Matthaus has urged Bayern to allow Franck Ribery to move to Manchester United.

France star Ribery, who is one of the most popular figures in his homeland, is a reported target for United.

And despite the fact the Sir Alex Ferguson has denied being after him, Matthaus has backed United to lure him out of the Bundesliga.

The Old Trafford outfit was recently rumoured to be about to launch a record £63 million bid for Ribery, and the Maccabi Netanya coach thinks his old club should cash in on the winger.

“If the figure is right, Bayern must make the most of this opportunity and sell him,” Matthaus told Bild.

Florentino Perez could be the first ever football club president to break the €100 million (£90 million) barrier according to Matthaus, who has tipped the Spaniard to launch a record-bid for Cristiano Ronaldo in the case he becomes Real Madrid’s new supremo.

“He would be the first one to break the €100 million barrier and make history,” he added.

“If Ronaldo does not leave, Manchester United are not going to sign Ribery because Ronaldo scores 30 goals per season, not Ribery.”

Matthaus is an idiot if he thinks United are going to spend 100million euro's on an overhyped right midfielder.
LMFAO:rofl:

1: He never said we were going to spend 100million on Ribery, he said we might receive it for Ronaldo
2: He's not overhyped
3: He's more of a left midfielder than a right midfielder

Guys,

this year the football channel in my country has been showing Bundesliga matches and weekly highlights.

FRANCK RIBERY IS NOT OVERRATED!!!!

He plays as a left midfielder, but floats around too and cuts in a lot.

Some matches e plays predominantly behind Toni and Klose, but will still drift wide at times to stretch play.

His acceleration and ability to dribble at pace would be a fantastic asset to ANY team.

He is one of a few players in the world who could actually improve a team like man Utd or Barcelona.

His usage of the ball is extremely intelligent and his decisions are great.

He knows when to play a through balll, when to cross, when to cross first time, when to cut it back, when to go it alone.

A class plyer.

Not worth 62 mil, of course. Who is?

Bayern are going to get Diego and I don't see how they will hold on to Ribery too.

Well worth a punt.
