Ron to snub Prem move

RONALDINHO will snub a move to the Premier League in favour of a switch to AC Milan.

The Brazilian superstar, 28, has been told he is surplus to requirements at Barcelona by new boss Josep Guardiola following a disappointing campaign last season.

He has been linked with Manchester City and Chelsea but his future appears to lie with the Italian giants.

Ronaldinho's agent Roberto De Assis said: "My brother isn't in the new coach's plans.

"Everyone has the right to create the team as they want but we have a contract with Barcelona.

"If they want to sell the player they have to come to an agreement with us and with the club who wants to buy him.

"I can confirm that Ronaldinho would go very willingly to Milan.

"It hasn't already happened because there have been problems between the two clubs, probably at an economic level, but there's still time to come to an agreement — at least until August 31."

City supremo Thaksin Shinawatra sees Ronaldinho as the ideal man to kick-start his side's push for Champions League football next season.

And the former Thai prime minister has given boss Mark Hughes a blank chequebook to sign the Samba ace.

New Chelsea coach Phil Scolari is also a big fan of the forward, having coached him in Brazil's victorious 2002 World Cup campaign.

But Milan look set to win the race to sign him with De Assis revealing the Rossoneri are in pole position.

He added: "The possibility that Ronaldinho will play in the red and black shirt next year is still there and is the same as a few months ago.

"Nothing has changed. We know that Milan like Ronaldinho and that Ronaldinho likes Milan.

"We will continue to work to bring the best player in the world to the best club in the world.

"We have always had a good relationship with Milan and always been in contact.

"We're only talking to Milan, we've never heard from Inter or Juventus out of respect for the Rossoneri.

"England? We're looking around but it's still too soon to decide. Anyway, there's time until August 31 to find the right solution.

"For now my brother is only working on finding his best form and going to play for the national team as a key player.

"He wants to show all his worth after the latest nonsense that has been said about him.

"He's doing very well and it's not true that lately in Barcelona he was leading a life that an athlete shouldn't."

hmm... very interesting.

Lets see what happens
its all down to how much he will lose.

Who wants to buy a FIFA 09 for Xbox 360 wearing a Man City shirt. People are so shallow they will buy thing cos they are associated with coolness

AC Milan would be classed as cool.

But his other merchandise opportunities would become severely limited at man city
Well nike won't be happy I remeber hearing they would pay part of his wages if he went to a team who were sponsered by nike, I remember Juve and Inter being touted
if Milan would have qualified in the Champions League, Ronaldinho would have already signed the contract with the italian side. Anyway i don't ronaldinho is going to recover, maybe only at 50 % of what he was.Look at ROnaldo(the brazilian)..that is Ronaldinho's destination

never took that into account with this ronaldinho saga but that is a very good point. but what your forgetting is that im sure they would buy it in a chelsea shirt so the epl is still alive for him in some respects. personnally i think its either gonna be chelsea or inter, surely he wants as much champions league as possible.

does anyone know ronaldinhos boyhood club? like who he loves and supports the most? and im talking about europeon clubs not something like gremio or some south american team. i mean what would be his favoured choice or is that barca?
He's just not the player he was.....

....My guess is that he'll end up at AC.....
The only reason he has suffered recently is because of the lack of disipline at most Spanish clubs, I remeber Becks saying he had to do his own training afterwards to even come close to what he got in England, Ronaldinho just didn't go to training alot of the time according to his teammates

Ha ha!!!

thats brilliant, definitely would come into it, he'd prob even sign for the scouse cos they have a bit of a profile!!

I think Ronaldo being Nike's player may be a factor in his move to Madrid also!

I'm surprised we haven't looked at him at all!
Past his best imo. I certainly wouldn't take him for United.

But going to AC is a much better prospect than Man City! :D

I don't really think he could hack the Premiership anyway, so going to AC will be better for him.
City still chasing Ronaldinho

Sky Sports News understands Manchester City remain hopeful of signing Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho this summer.

The World Cup winner has been told he is surplus to requirements at Barcelona as he does not feature in new coach Pep Guardiola's long-term plans.

City have a long-standing interest in securing Ronaldinho's services and are still in talks in the hope a deal can be reached, despite interest from a number of Europe's leading sides.

Strong possibility

A source close to the talks told Sky Sports News: "There is still a strong possibility that the deal to take Ronaldinho to Eastlands can still be done."

It is understood the deal is complex and detailed, but as long as talks continue City believe they can pull off the biggest transfer coup of the summer.

Should City land Ronaldinho, it would mean new manager Mark Hughes would have one of the most creative and gifted players in the world at his disposal for the new Premier League season.

Still a great great player, who shouldnt be dismissed so easily.
He partied too much at Barca, got injuries and didnt get on well with
others at the club. Under the right guidance he could excell once more.
It wasnt long ago he was THE best player in the World TWICE....
so ruling him out as 'past it' or 'crap' is just ridiculous and unfounded.

Id hate him to go to Chelsea cos he would improve them and do well there.
It would be interesting to see him in the Prem, even with City lol,
but not to our main title challengers.

I hope he stays at Barca cos Im a fan but if he left I hope its Milan
rather than Chelsea.

Barca want Ron tug-of-war

MANCHESTER CITY'S bid to sign Ronaldinho is under threat.

New City boss Mark Hughes and chief executive Garry Cook have been locked in talks with the Brazilian striker's representatives.

Barcelona have accepted an offer from the Eastlands club but the Spanish giants are hoping to start a tug-of-war for the former FIFA World Player of the Year.

Barca's sporting director Txiki Beguiristain said: “We are waiting for concrete offers from other clubs so that we can negotiate.

“I understand that it is difficult to sell him because there aren’t many clubs in the world willing to pay what we want.”

AC Milan and Chelsea are also weighing up moves for Ronaldinho, but are yet to contact Nou Camp officials.

i cant see ronaldhino going to city and he will probaly end up in serie a... but would love to see him play in the PL

Ronaldinho '90%' to Milan

Ronaldinho's brother and agent claims it is '90 per cent' likely that the Barcelona star will join Milan.

The Brazilian will be allowed to leave the Camp Nou for the right price this summer and has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Manchester City have confirmed an interest in signing the 28-year-old, while Ronaldinho has admitted he would be tempted to work with Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea.

However, Milan have long been favourites to sign the playmaker, despite vice-president Adriano Galliani stating the club would not break the bank for Ronaldinho.

Everything ready

The player's representative Roberto de Assis now appears to be confident that Ronaldinho will move to the San Siro this summer.

"It's true, he is likely to go to Milan," De Assis told Telelombardia.

"Everything is ready for the transfer. It is 90% and we are heading in this direction."

Los Angeles Galaxy had also been linked with a big-money offer to tempt Ronaldinho to Major League Soccer, but De Assis insists his brother will not join David Beckham in the United States.

He added: "He will never play there. He will play a tournament in Houston for his sponsor, but a transfer to the USA is excluded."

Milan: Ron will not join City

AC MILAN vice-president Adriano Galliani claims Ronaldinho has rejected a move to Manchester City.

City were believed to be in pole position to sign the Brazilian forward from Barcelona after offering more than Milan.

But the Italian giants insist Ronaldinho has made it clear he would prefer to move to the San Siro or join Phil Scolari's Chelsea.

Galliani said: "Ronaldinho has rejected the offer of Manchester City despite them offering twice as much as we can.

"He is not in the plans of Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, so he has a more favourable price.

"But the problem is the wages. For us to be able to afford him, the transfer fee would have to be close to nothing."

Galliani insists Milan have not given up hope of signing Ronaldinho this summer.

But a season-long loan deal now appears to be their best hope of landing the former World Player of the Year.
