With United due to face Barcelona in the Champions League semi final first leg clash, Rooney has come out and said that the current United team could be better than the former United teams.

“When you play you are always looking at former teams and you look at how good they were."

“You want to be better than them and become part of United’s history. We know what we want to do. I hope we can become the best-ever United team.”

And Rooney has also said that if United do win the Champions league then it will be a fitting tribute to the United players who died in the Munich air crash as this is the 50th anniversary of the crash.

“To win the Champions League would be brilliant for ourselves and the fans," he said. "But it would also commemorate the Munich air disaster and those players. It would be a great achievement for the club and also great for the history of Manchester United.”

we'll find out at the end of the seaosn i suppose. if we win the double, it probably is the best squad ever. Let's see how we get on in the next couple of weeks and then we can make a judgement.

todays team would not live with the 94 or 99 teams,although the squad is better overall ,the main department {strikers} is very much weaker .
once we get 4 decent strikers in this squad {hopefully next year} we will really flourish and then they might be fergies finest , time will tell.good luck in barcelona boys your good enough to beat them have no fear.
