Rooney set for miracle return

Wayne Rooney could return to training soon

Unconfirmed reports have emerged that Wayne Rooney will return to training this
week way ahead of schedule.

Rooney was initially ruled out for four weeks after suffering an ankle injury in a
freak training-ground accident prior to Manchester United's Premier League win
over Blackburn Rovers.

However, if the speculation proves to be correct and Rooney comes through
unscathed, he could be in line for a place on the bench at Bolton - where he
scored a brilliant hat-trick last year.

Ferguson has problems up front anyway, with Carlos Tevez not due back to
training until Friday after completing Argentina's World Cup qualifier in Colombia.

In addition, while Louis Saha was able to start in Rooney's absence in the win
over Blackburn, his fitness is so fragile Ferguson will not want to be over-reliant
on the Frenchman.www.vitalfootball.com

Let's hope so but I'll wait until the Manager's Press Conference on Friday before getting too excited.

What a relief news although I will have no objection if Fergie play duet Saha - Tevez for the Bolton match. Afterall I prefer to have fully fit Rooney for more important matches.

Yay! Rooney's determination to stay on the pitch is awesome. I think if someone were to cut his leg off, he'd be back on in 4-5 weeks

UNITED have scotched reports that Wayne Rooney has returned to training.

Rooney suffered an ankle injury in a training-ground accident a fortnight ago and was immediately ruled out for four weeks by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

It was not expected the England forward would figure again for the Reds until the crunch Premier League visit to Liverpool on December 16.

However, reports emerged overnight that the 22-year-old had been given the green light to start training again - way ahead of schedule - and could even be involved in Saturday's Barclays Premier League trip to Bolton, where he scored a hat-trick last season.

The news has come as a surprise to United officials, who felt Rooney was still some way off a comeback.

Sources inside Old Trafford have confirmed Rooney is still undergoing treatment and has not resumed training.

It leaves Ferguson with the same striking conundrum for the Reebok Stadium visit - because Carlos Tevez is not due back from World Cup duty with Argentina until Friday morning, while Louis Saha's fitness has not exactly been something United have been able to rely upon this season.

whats wrong with Saha's fitness now?

he was a yard behind play throughout the Blackburn match and could not even finish the match...
At the moment he will have to make do as a supersub.......
We need Rooney desperately to partner Tevez upfront but I only hope they don't put him back into action too soon......
Hopefully he is fully fit for Bolton game...

vice versa David put nani up front and ronaldo on the right wing

Nani would be like a headless chicken upfront imho......

Giggs and Ronaldo have made little impression when played upfront for United and I feel Nani would suffer the same faith....

I think Rooney's injury was never serious, but Man Utd made a fuss out of it just so he won't participate in the England matches and get hurt further more, just like what happened with Hargo before the Austria match. They claimed he's out due to injury just so he won't participate in a match which isn't crucial for England and risk his fitness. I hope Rooney gets back as soon as possible so we can turn the scousers defense afternoon into a torrid afternoon which they will never ever forget. :D

does it often make you sad the fact that Giggs never got to represent his country in an international competition....
He retired from international football to concentrate on United and so did Scholes, do you think they were pressured into this by Fergie...
Scholes had, would still have so much to offer to England.
Lampard, Hargreaves, Beckham, Gerrard are all superb midfielders in their own right but none of them have the same creativiy as Scholesy and perhaps that is what England are lacking when push comes to shove......

Since Becks went "off form" and Scholes retired. Gerrard has really struggled in the midfield; Lampard blows hot and cold. Says it all really. But, we digress, Rooney thread people.
