We have offered £3 million plus 3 "lucrative" friendlies? Sounds like there is going to be some fucking about! £6 million we get him, £10 million he will be stuffed, wrapped and chauffeur driven to Salford.

3 million doesn't sound much when compared to what we paid for others(E.G Bebe) who were not compared with Messi. How much would 3 pre-season friendlies bring in ? All sounds a bit cheapskate to me. :help:

Guys.

Dundee United have an average attendance of around what, 7500 people.

They are also massively in debt. They made a loss of £500,000 last year. They made a profit the season before that of £60,000

Why the hell should they get given £6 million for any of their footballers? It's ridiculous how, as soon as Uniteds name is mentioned, our club gets held to ransom.

And who's to say he'll be WORTH 6 million? He's unproven in the premiership. It's a much, much harder league.

£3 million is an extremely fair price and they should snap Uniteds hand off if they offer that, as it wipes out their debt, saves the club, and gives Ryan Gauld a chance to learn from the best.

We saw what happened with Zaha. What an outrageous sum of money for a premiership-unproven player that turned out to be. Was he really worth a £15 million gamble? I mean, he's not failed yet - but it's looking pretty grim for him. There's a danger of Ryan Gauld turning out the same way.

Ok I'll play devils advocate here. Look at it from a Dundee United point of view. Man Utd have an average gate of 75,000 and are offering the equivalent of 3 months of Wayne's salary for one of the brightest prospects to come out of Scotland in years. Other than what's been reported in the ever reliable press we don't really know what is going on but if it's true that we are interested, give them the money and forget the 3 friendlies. If he ends up as a star for Liverpool or Arsenal we will be bitching about it for years.

He does seem to have a bit of Messi about him in the way he moves with the ball, his passing is impressive as well, 6 million is nothing to a club of our stature for a player with his qualities.

tbf I'd rather overpay to a struggling, honest club, than to playboys owned scum...
That's how struggling clubs survive. It's not that long ago that we were lining up a £5M deal for John Terry because Chelsea were skint. (In fact it was the EXACT week Abramovich bought them)

Yes the difference between £3million or £6 million to Utd, is us buying a cake marked up for 60p and offering 30p, you just wouldnt do it. If Utd rate him then sign him up. We paid £10 million for Smalling, £16 million for Jones £17 million for Anderson, etc. In the grand scheme of things £3 million extra is F all.

Thw whole reason it is only 6 million, is the fact it is in Scotland for a struggling team bud. If this kid was doing what he is doing in Portugal say, he would be valued at the 15-18 mil mark. Be thankful and pay up.
