Ryan Giggs has collected an OBE from the Queen for services to football on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Reds winger collected the award at Buckingham Palace.

Giggs, who was rested for United's dead-rubber Champions League Group F clash with AS Roma, was given the day off to attend the ceremony.

"It's a very proud day for me and my family," he said.

Giggs has played 736 times for United and scored his 100th league goal for the Reds against Derby County on Saturday.

He has won nine Premier League titles - more than any other player in English league history.

Giggs says that Sir Alex Ferguson had given him some prior advice.

"He has been down a couple of times before and just said enjoy it.

"I'm lucky to play for such a great club for such a long time and to have had a successful career."

No, it was for the wonder goal against Les Arses in 99...........:D

Anyway Congrats Giggsy...just as he's getting back to his best aswell......

His recent performances have been top notch.........:)

Well done Giggsy......
They have only changed it to Les Arses? I thought they had done it full blown, E.g. FFF London, or Olympique London... :D

Oh, this topic is about Giggs... I believe we will one day have the privilege of calling Giggs: Sir Ryan. But for now, a congratulations will have to do. Be sure to score one against Liverpool this week to celebrate!

When did this happen.......

It says he collected it Tuesday......

That's today

If he has an OBE as this article says then he is already Sir Ryan Giggs isn't he ?
There are usually 2 honours lists.

One is announced in June (for the Queen's birthday) and one is announced at the end of the year (the New Year's Honours List).

Giggs was included in the honours list announced in June but the OBE was only presented to him yesterday (Tues 11th December). He was given time off by Man United to accept the award.

He is now Ryan Giggs OBE. Fergie was knighted so he is Sir Alex Ferguson.
