The People can always be relied upon to print something that stirs matters up on
transfers and this Sunday is no exception.
Their exclusive is that Manchester United are exploring the possibility of bringing
Samuel Eto'o to Old Trafford.
The basis for this is Frank Rijkaard's difficulty in getting all his attacking talents on
the park at once- plus, United could certainly do with another striker.
One problem with the plan is that Eto'o could be away for 5 weeks in the New
Year at the African Nations Cup although the paper reckons this wouldn't worry
Sir Alex Ferguson.
Eto'o had his problems at Barca last season but with the continuing uncertainty
over the future of Ronaldinho, the Cameroon star may decide to bide his time.
The deal is also dependent on Louis Saha moving to Catalunya but given his
current fitness, it seems unlikely that Barca will see the Frenchman as a sound
investment.
If Saha does form part of the deal it still leaves United one forward light, as Sir
Alex is known to favour having 4 outright strikers available to him.
Overall, this deal doesn't seem like starter unless United are prepared to offer far
more cash- even then its not one to put money on.
