Barcelona's Saviola welcomes Man Utd contact

Manchester United have joined the race for Barcelona's Bosman prospect Javier Saviola.
young and can score golas
The News of the World says Saviola is set to quit Barcelona this month on a Bosman free, paving the way for a possible move to Old Trafford for less than £7 million. Any deal on offer would be for around three years and worth about £50,000 a week.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Bolton, Valencia and Real Madrid are also interested but United are Saviola's preferred choice.

Saviola, who has had three years at the Nou Camp, is not impressed by a new deal offer from the Spanish giants at much reduced money.

He said: "I consider my career at Barcelona is finished. There are several offers on the table."

sounds goos business to me get in a good striker first who is cheap...and also score goals. Which would mean we hav 1 striker in the bag and then we cn then go in for the big nme stirkers we loinked with knwin if it fails we still gt 1 2 fall bak on but if we do get one aswel and then sell saha we will hav Rooney Smith Saviola n tha other striker knwin Anderson cn play there if we need him but will lyk to see him in midfield...thts 5 forwards and if Ole cums bak frm injury potentialy 6

Ole will focus on coaching rather than anything else, if we sign Saviola then Saha and possibly Smith will leave Old Trafford, because we'll need to bring in one more player.
ole is injured again is why i think we need naother strker saha will leave i thinks thats definate...smith i dnt knw if he wants to go bcz unless we are able to sign another target man kind of player he is the only player we own who can stay up fornt by himself and hold the ball up and defend from the front...also fans lyk him as he slides in alot...wudnt rele wana c him go unless tht nmeans not only 1 mre stirker 2 cum in but also onether 1 2 replace smith
Saviola would be a good signing. He wouldnt cost much and he is 25 which is a good. He has a fair bit of class about him and I reckon he would fit in without too much trouble.
Do we want another striker similar to what we already have. If we are to sign a striker I would prefer a target man so, if need be, we can alter our tactics during games. Saviola isn't this so can't see the point in signing him, unless it's just to stop the scousers having him. Now theres a thought?

You have a good point. I would love Berbatov or Eto'o but they would be very unlikely which is unfortunate. We just need one more piece in the United jigsaw and we will be way ahead of the pack. With these new signings and a hugely impressive season just behind us, we are in for some great times. And losing the FA cup will make them stonger again. They wont want to have that bitter feeling ever again. Exciting times ahead. I cant bloody wait!

you made a good point. if we need a striker why buying someone that we already have. we need a striker who is tall and is good in scoring with his head. we lack a striker with head-finishing(?!) ability like berbatov or somene tall.
having nearly spent all of the 50 mil budget, maybe selling smith heinze and even a couple more, o'shea richardson-(though would like to see richardson stay), gives us the cash for the real deal striker we need-huntelaar etc, saviola aint tall enough in my opinion

yeah you're probably right. we need to sell 2/3 players. Heinze looks like he is definitely off. should get about 5 million for him. Smith should stay, think he is signing a new contract. I actually hope Richardson goes but we would only get about 3 million and then there is Saha who might also leave. We could maybe raise 15 million by selling those 3. I hope O'Shea stays. He is a great utility/squad player.
Huntelaar would be a great buy but we just got to wait and see i guess.
He Could be a good Signing. I Would like to see him playing in Manchester.
But, i still prefer Huntelaar
Ok i understand your points about having too similar strikers but...there was a time when cole and yorke would play togethe, and correct me if i am wrong but thtat was a deadly partnership nun were tall target men but scored alot of goals...and therefore i think that rooney along with sum1 lyk saviola who shud b bakup insted wudnt b bad buh also reports wid tevez shows fergie thinking he wont play with a target man n mre and encourage more of an along the ground football as we have been doing...making it a better counterattackive team!
