MARCOS SENNA will turn his back on a move to Arsenal to stay with Villarreal.
The holding midfielder, 31, is in talks to extend his contract with the La Liga side.
His current deal ends in 2010 but Villarreal hope to tie him down for the rest of his career.
Senna said: "I met with the president of Villarreal on Tuesday and we talked about extending my contract by two years.
"But now I want to rest. I am on holiday and hope to detach myself from these things."
Villarreal president Fernando Roig said: “He wants to stay for life with us and he's a great person.
“We are very proud of him. Senna is happy here and they are staying at Villarreal."
Senna attracted the attention of the Gunners and other top clubs during Spain's success at Euro 2008.
His no-nonsense style in Luis Aragones' side earned him the a place in UEFA's squad of the tournament.
He would be the ideal replacement for Mathieu Flamini, who left the Emirates for AC Milan last month, but Arsene Wenger's chances of landing the midfielder now appear slim.
Senna, meanwhile, believes Spain's victory in Austria and Switzerland will give them the confidence to challenge for the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
The Brazilian-born ace added: "I know that the rest of the world is very difficult to conquer because it has Brazil and Argentina there.
"But it costs nothing not to dream.
"Winning Euro 2008 is the biggest achivement of my life and I am certain that it does not stop there.
"We took a huge weight off our shoulders with this victory.
"I am certain that we will win more after this."
Villarreal qualified for this season's Champions League after finishing second in La Liga last term.
And the lure of playing in Europe's premier club competition has convinced Senna to remain at the El Madrigal stadium.
he was the best if not one of the best for Spain this Euro.. glad he committed himself to villareal so arsenal cant get him
