Shouldn't we look at Barcelona for summer signings?

Pep Guardiola will push to have several of Barcelona's fringe players offloaded should he succeed Frank Rijkaard as coach.
DiarioSport says those Guardiola doesn't see as part of his plans for next season are Eidur Gudjohnsen, Ronaldinho, Pinto, Thierry Henry, Edmilson, Giovani dos Santos, Santi Ezquerro, Lilian Thuram, Oleguer, Yaya Toure and Albert Jorquera.

Assistant coach Johan Neeskens will follow Rijkaard out of the Nou Camp, with Eusebio Unzue also expected to leave.

If what is said above is true, then shouldn't we think about a possible raid on Barcelona?
Surely, some of the above mentioned players can add something to our squad? We are linked with a move for Wigan's Antonio Valencia who is a right winger but isn't Giovani dos Santos a better option? He has a lot of potential and is younger.

Also we've been linked with Miguel Veloso who is a defensive midfielder. Isn't Yaya Toure a good option? He played very well against us in the two legs of the CL and probably wouldn't cost as much as Veloso.

What about Thierry Henry? Picturing a former gunner in a United shirt would be difficult, but his scoring record cannot be questioned. He still might have a few good years left in him.

And there are other players like Deco and Xavi that might be available if United press the issue. Since they are looking for a massive overhaul of the squad, we might get these players cheaply.

What do you think?

Yes barce have alot of poor players sitting in there squad thuram is finished gudjohnson doesnt get enough action and then biggest earning fringe player henry lol!!! isnt get enough minutes to keep him happy
do we even need to sign anyone? maybe 1 striker?
Dos Santos may be worth a punt hes decent young player with an immense amount of potential, also Yaya Toure although we don't need ANOTHER midfielder.
Thuram also? Can play right back and although hes not young he would be very strong.
I think Dos Santos would be an excellent signing, Giggs is close to retirement so we need another winger. Yaya Toure would be a wonderful signing, it is true we have alot of midfielders but we don't have that big powerful midfielder. Carrick Scholes Fletcher Anderson are not powerful players and I think Sir Alex plans to use Hargreaves at right back on a permant basis. Toure and Carrick in central midfield would be a dream. However I would be very surprised if Barcelona decided to sell Toure.
well, theres talk of eto'o going tottenam, henry going man city etc. messi is suposably being linked with chelsea and ronaldhino these days is being linked with everybody under the sun sooooo....yes i think they should definately look into barca and maybe poach a few e.g. eto'o from tottenham
If that Spurs thing with Eto'o is serious and Barca really are thinking of letting him go, I really think we should hijack it and make a bid for Eto'o he's a fantastic striker who has everything would complete our squad imo.
He's a striker who is guaranteed to hit 20+ a season and would be a fantastic asset in the squad, also has good experience all round (champions league etc.)
The only Barca player I would accept really is Eto'o.

Well, obviously Messi but they won't sell him ;)

We don't need any midfielders, so talk of Xavi, Toure etc is out the window. No goalkeeper is needed, although their goalkeepers aren't that great. And their defenders are crap so nobody from there either. :D
Messi For Me He Would Be The Best Player For Man United
A player like Eto'o should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Spurs, unless of course:

'Eto'o bags five as United maul Spurs!'

We need a striker with his finishing ability, Rooney is abysmal in 1-on-1 situations and Eto'o also has the height. Saying that, with Manucho being recalled, its unlikely that Ferguson will take the punt as they play a similar game.

Giovani Dos Santos is a definite option for the left wing, Giggs is not a long-term option and the jury is still out on Nani for me so if he was going at a reasonable price, he would be an excellent signing. He is similar to Messi except obviously not as good on the ball, though still quick and strong.

If we didnt already have the cover we have, Toure would be a good signing but the way things are, he is not what we need.
theres a reason why we want valencia and not gio, vaencia is better ... quicker better technically more of a goal threat :) and no we dont need any of them players only possibly eto'o :)
yaya toure was great against us...btu not the best mid is he??
dos santos will be a decent signing...but i cant see us buying him...i dont think we need any of the barca players other than messi :p
tbh...i dont think we should be looking at only barca for our transfers......we should also be looking at valenica IMO....some great aplyers and they will be looking to leave IMO.......villa,silva etc etc.....
I would like To Bring on Giovani dos Santos but I don't think we'll buy anyone From Barca.
All this Dos Santos talk is baffling. Just like Bojan he is WAY over rated.
I wouldnt bother with him at all. We need world class players like
Messi (not going to happen) or Eto'o.

Great point imo, Valencia should also be considered as a destination for a raid. Players like David Silva and David Villa are top class.

Need a left winger? then David Silva would be awesome. Great technique, skill and young
Need a natural finisher? then who better than David Villa?
Bojan, Thiago (youth, not Motta) or Assulin are the only Barca players worth mentioning

Rest arent worth the hassle, Dos Santos is very big headed

I dont rate Bojan much. He is the same size now than when he was 14.
He cant hack it with the big boys imo. Too lightweight and too easy to read.
On a theoretical basis, i can't see Ferguson paying for top level established players. yaya won't go anywhere, and i hope Hargreaves is used more flexibly as a wing-back, he seemed to enjoy the freedom playing on the wing, utilising his excellent crosses, hargreaves is a definate go for me as a versatile tenacious midfielder who can also play at Rb.

Whether Yaya Toure would go to Man utd is a different toppic. The Primary question here is will the Barcelona heirachy leet yaya, one of their season pplus points, go so soon? Unlikely seems sensible answer.

Ferguson doesn't like going to established players, it's why we always buy top young talent for high prices. So whie Eto'o is a good player, i think Hunter fits the more likely type for me. Eto'o has a history of controversial comments when things aren't going his way. For an established world beating striker to come into MUFC, as a newbie and speak out when things aren't going so well is only going to shorten his stay.

So for me there are unlikely to be any raids on barcelona.. I might go for Thuram, someone Pique, O';Shea hargreaves Rio/Vidic Evans and Pique can learn from in training. But would he be capable of keeping pace in England with some of the fastest players in the world here.. ? mmm

Dos Santos, is egoistic. Ferguson won't go for him. He wants big wages when in the time he has shown at Barcelona, he's scored zero goals compared to the other little kid who's scored 7 or 8 in his debut season.

Jovetic is who i want at Old trafford, maybe El Hunter. One or the other, and if Benzema becomes available - ill let ferguson decide on the prudent decision to take regarding his transfer.

[hunter/jovetic, thuram for defender trainer, and that's my summer shopping done. Maybe i'd go for a winger and defensive midfielder..

Gai Assulin is the most overlooked youngster though, great talent
