Pique to Barcelona for a total fee of £6m.

Silvestre to Bordeaux. To be announced after the final.

Apparently.

Thanks for the memories Mikael, especially those two goals against the Dippers :D I don't rate Silvestre, but think he was adequate back up when needed.

With Pique going to Barca as well, leaving us a bit short at the back, especially at left back. Can't see Evans going now.

If that's the case then I assume we'll be bringing in defenders during the summer.

I think Evans is likely to go too and it's too early for Cathcart. I'm still undecided about Simpson - he started well but had an absolute shocker against Everton in December and I don't think he's played for us since.

Leaves us a bit vulnerable to injuries at the back if we don't bring in reinforcements.

Im not happy with the exit of tweety. Don't care how good Evans is but he won't be a world cup and euro winner with his country. neither does he have the pace or passing ability of Silvestre. Pique i don't wana see go either, think he can be a more than adequate back-up when the time comes. *sigh*. Esquizel Garay gone to Real Madrid now, "one for the future" was he, i wonder what'll happen with our defence now.. Still, we got Johnny O'Shea at Lb, he'll be called more frequently and is a direct alternative in a similar position to Evra.

Pique.. what about Post Milito injury.. what about after january, what'll happen to him then if Milito gets favoured as the other centreback.. sit on the darned bench that's what!! SIlly boy if he moves.. thinik he should go to Juventus where he'll get lots of playing time and improve in an italian way to become the best defender in the world after rio ferdinand..

I'm not too concerned about Pique leaving us as we have Brown and possibly Evans to cover when one of our centre-backs are out. Silvestre was always good enough when called upon. It's sad to see Silvestre go as he has been a part of the squad for such a long time and has been loyal to the cause. I would have said that this would leave us short at left-back but aren't we signing two Brazilian twins? ;)

I'm Northern Irish so I'll have to stick up for him here. Ryan Giggs and Nemanja Vidic both play for countries who have no chance of winning the Euros or World Cups. I fail to see what this has to do with how good of a player he can be? Also, I might as well add Rooney, Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves, Neville, Ferdinand and Brown to that list since England have no chance of being Euro/World Cup winners either, judging by recent times.
