The Manchester United boss revealed earlier in the week that The Red Devils had tabled an offer for Wales' youngest ever player, but added he felt Tottenham were leading the race after out-bidding their Premiership counterparts.

United had both Carlos Queiroz and Mike Phelan watching Bale in Southampton's 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City at Eastlands on Sunday and until the window slams shut for good, speculation will continue to surround the precocious left-back.

Dunno why we should buy him. We already got Evra and dont forget about Heinze who is IMO still a class player.

He has potential, but he is not a great player yet. He hasn't yet proved himself and this is a kid who still has to play top-fight football.

Look at Walcott - he's another kid who still needs a lot of experience before he can be termed even a good player. As for Bale, this is just investing in the future. At this point in time, I think Spurs will probably get to him before we do. Sir Alex isn't one for spending big on future talent as much as would on established and proven youngsters with skills.

We don't need him and he is unproven anyway compared to the good young players we already have in that position.

We could turn him into a replacement for giggs. Bale can defend but he's not a brilliant defender. He's got the attacking skills too so why not buy him and see if he could turn into a left-midfielder?

y spend money on a youngster hoping to turn him to another position...we could aim for Stuart Downing instead

we dont need to buy him! we don need left full back as we already have Evra, gaby and if they injured or get suspended( but not as worst as this season) oshea can cover that he is versatile player we need to have him.
Replacement of gigs! never ! how can a player who couldnt atleast take one player can replace the magic gigs! why we tranfrorm fullbacks to winger? we can buy natural winger MAY BE NANI!
