Sky Sports will start the new season of live Barclays Premiership matches with:

Sheffield United vs Liverpool exclusively live on Saturday 19 August.
Sheffield United's first match in the top division since 1994 will also be the first live Premiership match to be broadcast live in high definition on Sky HD.

Sky Sports, in consultation with the FA Premier League and clubs, has now scheduled 43 live games over the first five months of the Barclays Premiership season.

Within these selections, Champions Chelsea will be seen twice in the opening two weeks of the season and every club will be seen live by mid-October and at least twice within the first set of fixtures.

Among the selected live matches are:

Chelsea vs Liverpool
Jose Mourinho's champions meets Rafael Benitez's FA Cup winners exclusively live at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 17 September.

Manchester United v Arsenal
The first meeting of the year between the two clubs will be live from Old Trafford as part of a double-header on Sunday 17 September.

Reading v Arsenal
Newly-promoted Reading, last season's Championship winners, entertain the UEFA Champions League runners-up on Sunday 22 October.

Manchester United vs Chelsea
Last year's Champions face their closest challengers live from Old Trafford on Sunday 26 November.

Announcing the first live fixtures, Vic Wakeling, Managing Director of Sky Sports, commented: "All 138 live games on Sky Sports and PremPlus will be offered in HD. It's something we've been working on for a year, and the results have been superb - the most exciting development in sports broadcasting since the introduction of colour. "We think the Premiership - and our subscribers - deserves this quality of coverage."

This season Sky Sports will again show 88 matches exclusively live from the Barclays Premiership. An additional 50 live matches will be available on PremPlus.

Sky Sports will also offer; up to 14 live matches a week from the UEFA Champions League; 70 live matches - more than ever before - from the Coca-Cola Football League, the end-of-season Play-Offs including all three Finals, the Nationwide Conference, live ties from the FA Cup, Carling Cup and Scottish Tennents Cup and live internationals including European Championship Qualifiers featuring England, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Barclays Premiership, Coca-Cola League, Carling Cup and selected UEFA Champions league matches will also be broadcast live in Sky HD, offering even sharper, clearer, more vibrant pictures and - with compatible home cinema systems - Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

Updated fixtures can be sourced throughout the season here at www.skysports.com, on Sky Text page 220
